Ebby Halliday‘s Little White House has new talent: Richard Schalij came on board recently, bringing 22 years of real estate experience to the team.

Schalij has been a Realtor successfully representing buyers and sellers of real estate in the DFW area since 1995. He has received Realtor.com’s coveted Excellence in Online Marketing Award.

“Richard strives to provide top-notch service and to ensure that his client’s listings have a very strong online presence for maximum exposure, and also that his buyer and tenant clients have a strong experienced agent on their side of the transaction— innovative and effective marketing is one of his specialties,” said Keith Newman, manager of Ebby Halliday Realtors’ Little White House office. “We’re thrilled to have him join us from Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage and we see great things in store for our partnership.”

Schalij is experienced at handling new construction transactions and luxury leases  — he’s currently working on three large developments near downtown Dallas. His many years of experience and involvement in the Dallas community has made him very well versed in the many neighborhood pockets and nooks of Dallas and most surrounding areas.

Schalij completed his Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Business Management and Marketing at Exeter Business School in Devon, England.

“I enjoy always increasing my knowledge of the international finance environment since I finished business school in the U.K., and I am excited to have in-house access to trusted mortgage lenders available to provide excellent finance services to my clients,” Schalij said. “I also intend to utilize our Leading Real Estate Companies of the World and Luxury Portfolio International networks — it’s important to have connections with other Realtors across the world.”

He has co-chaired the local MLS meetings, as well as serving on committees for the Dallas-area Board of Realtors including: Forms and Contracts, Leasing and Property Management committees, and the Government Affairs Committees.

Schalij loves modern architecture as well as historic homes, he is a member of Preservation Dallas, where he received his certification as a Historic House Specialist several years ago. He actually grew up in a beautiful restored 1870’s Victorian four-story, 14-room house on the Hudson River in Westchester, New York, where he enjoyed sailing during warmer months. He’s continued that love of historic living in his Dallas home.

“My favorite things about living in the Swiss Avenue Historic District are the friendly people, walkability, proximity to Ebby’s Little White House, great local restaurants and shops, and running around White Rock Lake,” he said.

When he has some free time, Schalij enjoys playing tennis, running, and going to art galleries — his mother Elisabeth Schalij is an active and well-known artist from the Netherlands, who paints in her studio near Joe Pool Lake most days of the week. He’s considered a “car guy” and loves automobiles, especially performance cars, and has raced Porsche Turbos on amateur track day events. He also loves his Australian Silky Terrier, which he named “Akemi,” Japanese for “bright beauty.”
