Buckner Terrace is an East Dallas neighborhood on the rise, with tons of the homes being renovated into highly livable and stylish spaces.

Our Tuesday Two Hundred, located at 5838 Elm Lawn St., shines as an example of this trend. The owners opened up the floorplan in the common living areas and added a lot of desirable amenities, especially in the renovated kitchen.

This home has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, two living areas, and 1,885 square feet on one story, built in 1963.

One of the reasons so many buyers flock to Buckner Terrace is because it’s quite affordable compared to other East Dallas areas, like Lakewood and Little Forest Hills. Lots of houses here are under $300K, and the area is just minutes from White Rock Lake. Some of the areas even have a view of downtown Dallas, which is only a few miles away.

This house is a bit of a surprise, because the curb appeal doesn’t hint at what’s waiting inside. The exterior one area where a homebuyer might have some work to do to make it more appealing. Perhaps painting the brick and shutters and working on the landscaping? The owners did put in a new cedar post on the front porch, which is a nice touch, as well as a new front door.

The interior received a big renovation that opened it up and made the interior modern – it fits the trend happening to many homes in the neighborhood. The overall aesthetic is transitional, with on-trend finishes. There’s hardwood flooring throughout, recessed lighting, and new windows and doors.

They’ve done a great job of staging the home to show off flow and function. It’s an appealing look. So many sellers leave an empty house, and that can make it harder for potential buyers to imagine themselves there.

The kitchen, which is open to the dining and living rooms, shines, with custom cabinetry in white, granite countertops, a contemporary glass tile backsplash, and stainless steel appliances, including a gas range. The dining room features a painted brick fireplace and built in cabinetry. Very nice.

The bathrooms are also recipients of the renovations, with custom cabinetry, granite countertops, and modern tile treatments.

There’s a fenced backyard and two-car garage, but like the front, the back could probably use a green thumb and some love.

This Buckner Terrace home was listed June 9 by Mordecai Langer with United Real Estate — Dallas for $295,000.

And I’d like to add that the home is beautifully staged by my fellow stager Karen Otto with Home Star Staging. If you’ve ever thought you should not stage a property at this price point, here is the proof of how well it works!
