Buckner Terrace Ranch Renovations Take This House From Blah to Beautiful

Buckner Terrace is an East Dallas neighborhood full of happy real estate surprises. Lots of people are buying the  1960’s and 70’s houses there and renovating them to be simply marvelous.

Our Tuesday Two Hundred is one example at 5019 Colter Way, near Samuell Boulevard and North Jim Miller Road. This ranch-style home was pretty blah in its past — check out the “before” pictures after the jump below. But as you can see from the “after” photos, it’s everything a buyer could want now: open floorplan, dreamy kitchen with quartz countertops, sleek finishes, recessed lights, and a decidedly contemporary feel throughout.

This home has three bedrooms, two full bathrooms, one half bath, and 2,060 square feet on one story, built in 1966. Let’s take a look!

As you can see from the “before” photos above, this house had a lot of potential, but was stuck in the 1960’s. The owners painted the brick a white color and added new shutters, posts, and a modern front door. Inside, they took out walls and reimagined the space to create an open floorplan in living room, dining room, and kitchen areas. Fresh paint in a palette of light grays creates an on-trend feel, and the brick fireplace is painted a deep charcoal color. Laminate floors look like the real deal.

The kitchen stars in the renovation, with European-style flat-front white cabinets, brushed nickel hardware, a penny tile backsplash in shades of gray and white, light-colored quartz countertops, and new stainless steel appliances, including a gas range. What an appealing space! There’s a nearby breakfast area, providing a second option for dining.

The master bath is totally renovated with a contemporary white vanity with dual sinks, white tile, and a new bathtub. The bedrooms have new carpet and fresh paint, and the master in particular feels spacious and bright.

In back, there’s an open patio surrounded by mature trees and new privacy fencing, creating a pleasant outdoor space for entertaining.

This Buckner Terrace ranch was listed Jan. 24 by Elizabeth Grunnah with Pegasus Properties for $259,900.

Fabulous renovation. I’m a huge proponent of painting brick!

I’m for not using trendy brick that needs painting when tastes change.

Me either, but that house looked like it had a sad skin condition in the ‘before’ shots, so there have to be exceptions for everything.

Someone more creative than I, should develop a name for new name for this style…seems its the only way things are being done. Painted brick and cedar trim ranch on the outside, modern triple grey on the inside !

Cool Ranch Renos! Hardy work horse of houses brought back up to appeal and function for today’s modern home buyer. .

Got one of those in our neighborhood, near the country club. Looks awful and IMHO didn’t do the house any favors. Is it akin to the faux Tuscan “standard” we’ve suffered — will we be seeing more of the painted brick, cedar shutters, and interior grayness standard as ranches are reno’d? ICK
