Living With the Art Director: East Kessler Cottage Sold in Five Days
Share News:
This charming cottage at 439 West Colorado Boulevard in the heart of East Kessler Park lasted on the market only five days and snagged three offers. (I was actually surprised it lasted that long.) When the seller told me he and his “partner in crime” were considering selling, I said, go find a place to live NOW.
This is the home of the most talented Todd Johnson, who I knew as the Art Director of D Home Magazine, but his last art direction gig was with Ink, the magazines of American Way.
You can see his well-thought out touches from the very first glimpse of the home: the detail work in the freshly white brick, the welcoming front door and shutters. Inside the walls are various shades of blue-gray that enhance the abundant exterior greenery floating in from the giant windows, located on multiple sides in most rooms.
The landscaping is crisp and impeccable. Though the home is only 1530 square feet with two bedrooms and one bath, it appears to be much larger because of the brightness. My favorite room has always been the solarium (I’m a sucker for solariums!) that opens up to the back patio. The vintage charm overflows with architectural details such as the fireplace, the wide arched entry to the dining room, vaulted ceilings, woodwork, and rich dark hardwoods. The kitchen is spotlessly new with the requisite stainless appliances. Outside is a new two car detached garage perfect for storage, and a spa off the patio oasis.
Asking price was $419,000. Listing agent Brian Davis of Dave Perry-Miller.
Moral of this story: if the house belongs to an art director, chances are extremely high it will be like a work of art on the inside. Our advice to you is BUY.
