You know Mark McLemore, the former second baseman turned commentator for baseball games on ESPN, and now currently part of the Texas Rangers broadcast team. What a fun job:  he provides analysis on the pre- and post game programs on Fox Sports Southwest. Mark also does baseball analysis on the Friday night Texas Ranger broadcasts on TXA21 (KTXA) with Gina Miller.

We don’t think the commute has got him down, because 533 South White Chapel Boulevard is not too far from the Texas Rangers. But Mark has apparently decided to unload his very “estately” private gated estate on nearly 4 acres at 533 South White Chapel in the very heart of Southlake!

White Chapel is one of the most beautiful drives in Southlake, dotted with CEO’s and VIPs who love set-back, acreage, private ponds and all the horses they can saddle in private stables. White Chapel is kind of Sportscasters Avenue — recall the rich voice of Pat Summerall? He lived on White Chapel, too, and his estate was sold just this past November.

533 White Chapel Pool533 South White Chapel is very haute 90’s contemporary, almost like Deion Sanders old place up there in Prosper. But this estate was built in 1997. It truly provides all essential living space on the first floor — upstairs is like the frosting. So I guess this could be an empty nester’s dream IF you like lots of space. And I do mean lots: the home comes in at a whopping 11,059 square feet. That’s a big one.

There are three living areas, a study, exercise room, media room, pool room (as in the table) and two formal dining areas.  One entire wing is dedicated to the grand master suite with sleeping quarters on a platform, built ins, it’s own washer and dryer facility, fireplace, sitting area, and a spiral stair case leading to a customized turret with built in lounge space with built-in wall seating. Kind of reminds me of the very first 747’s that had upstairs lounges in the good old days of airline travel where ladies dressed up to travel, sometimes even wearing gloves. There was china and silver in First Class, and you had a knife to cut your filet which was actually delicious. But I digress.

Then there is the guest wing with two bedrooms, no need to have your guests climb the stairs. Pu the kids up there with three bedrooms and another private living space. There is a secondary staircase leading down to the kitchen and family rooms. There is a large pool shaped, I think, like a baseball glove. For sure the pool has a round step made to look like a baseball. There is a regulation-size tennis court, spa, and cabana with built in grill. But this is a true party have fun house: there is also a climate-controlled indoor sport court complete with batting nets. Or if  basketball is your cup of tea, the court is fully loaded and ready for some dribbles.

I know it’s a little glam dated, but you’ve got to love the elegant touches, like the marble surrounding the elevated master tub, the over-sized master shower, and those ceilings so high you could lose a kite. Lest I forget the fountain that greets you in the front, your gift for driving the length of the driveway. Asking is $3.2 million, and the good folks at Inwood Mortgage, who are geniuses when it comes to jumbo loans, will be quite happy to lend a hand with financing. They are all over homes of this size, magnitude and price tag. Besides, the buyer is almost sure to be another Texas Ranger or professional commentator with a golden voice.
