Countdown to Christmas: Customizable Glassware is Perfect For Pet Lovers

You’ll recall that I stopped in to the Bernadette Schaeffler Collection on Tuesday of last week to see what this lovely Design District decor boutique had for Christmas. The holiday season is special for the store’s namesake, as it reminds her of the lovely traditions of her native Germany. How could I not stop in!?

“Christmas in my home country of Germany is very different from what we know here in North America,” said Schaeffler. “Even though I have to admit that I see more commercialism back home, our tradition is more the focus on the actual religious part of Christmas.”

That means beautiful and simple decorations that incorporate advent wreaths and straw figures, lovely handmade accents and simple elegance. They really make Christmas feel warm and cozy and delicious. Of course, the perfect gift for loved ones is a part of that, too.

While Schaeffler admits that she’s become a little “Americanized” and puts her tree up at the beginning of advent, she still believes that gift giving should be an art that takes thought and time, which is exactly what goes into this gorgeous line of custom glassware. Artisans in the Czech Republic, which produces some of the finest crystal, can etch the image of your beloved beasties into your drinkware.

The artist, using a couple of photos of your dog, cat, iguana, or whatever, makes a stunning portrait that is then carved into your choice of crystal. You can do traditional clear crystal, or you can choose a color version. Both are absolutely stunning.

I love how beautiful it looks and how personal it feels! Of course, there are plenty of modern, traditional, and luxurious glassware designs that are sure to please your recipient.
