Drive by this gorgeous modern farmhouse in Forest Hills and try not to fall in love. Chances are, the house is going to win and you’ll fall head over heels for this beauty, which has clean modern lines throughout and stunning custom interiors.

This is, truly, one of those homes where you think “Why on earth would anyone want to sell this beauty?”

The truth of the matter is that the homeowners are selling their dream home kicking and screaming. Their loss could be your gain, and what an amazing gain it could be.

Marketed by Keller Williams Elite’s Vicki White, this clean and modern take on the traditional American farmhouse at 8358 San Pedro Parkway is brand new to the market and is listed for $1.195 million. It has four bedrooms, four full and one half bath, and open spaces throughout, thanks to the more-than 4,200 square feet.

“It is not often that we get a listing that is so exciting because of its uniqueness,” White said of the home. “It is located on the only street in Forest Hills that is practically a dead-end street, so kids play in the front and neighbors have parties in the street. They think it is the best location in the neighborhood!”

It’s true, the location is premium, and the neighborhood is fun and eclectic with small cottages, craftsman homes, and modern dwellings all side-by-side in this dense, heavily treed neighborhood right next to White Rock Lake and the Dallas Arboretum. There are tons of neighborhood shops and this area is known for its bicycle culture. Families flock to this area because of the kid-friendly streets and proximity to the lake.

“Forest Hills is one of my all time favorite neighborhoods due to the small town atmosphere,” adds White. “However, seldom, if ever, do you see a house like this. It is just special.”

Now, everything about this home is completely custom, personally overseen by the owner, “a top-notch designer,” says White. “Each light fixture was well thought out. Nothing you could duplicate with a quick trip to Home Depot, Lowe’s, or Lamps Plus. The huge windows that let light flow through the house are mostly free of coverings. There is no carpet in the house, only beautiful hardwoods.”

The living area is so classic, and I love how the homeowner punctuates the neutral palette with a wonderful punch of emerald green. The shapes and patterns are absolutely textbook Transitional, where modern colors and features such as hammered nails can co-exist.

I love how the family room is completely open to the kitchen, which has a gorgeous eat-in island and cabinets worthy of a magazine spread. The pendants over the island are amazing, too, and I love the geometric fixture over the breakfast area. However, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a need to turn on the lights during the daytime, as so much sunlight filters in through the huge low-e glass windows throughout the home.

Just built in 2013, the family is now being transferred out of town due to a job. Now that they have their dream home, they have to start all over. The furniture was custom made for the home, too, and if it suits you, you could try to negotiate it in the sale. I know I would!

The master bedroom is so gorgeous, y’all. But what is that plaid chair doing there? Total head-scratcher for me, but it doesn’t detract from the beautiful fireplace and bevy of built-ins. Plus those windows! Love it all! The master bath is just as amazing, with split vanities and tons of storage, plus a huge modern free-standing tub and frameless glass-enclosed shower.

Now, I don’t normally include photos of kids bedrooms and guest rooms, but this home has some really adorable bedrooms. The nautical boys’ room is so sweet, and the princess-pink girls’ room is cute, too. There’s a nursery that is perfect for a brand new baby as well. Just an excellent all-around family home!

The backyard is splendid, too, and a great size. There’s a covered porch and outdoor grilling area, and plenty of grassy space for your kids to run free. There’s room enough for a pool if that’s more your speed, too. There’s also a bonus room or media room upstairs, perfect for kids to play indoors when the weather’s less than stellar.

What do you think?
