Red Mailbox

“Remember when the real mailbox was filled?  You opened it, read it, and melted away!” Bernadette Schaeffler exclaimed. “In our rapidly changing time, an email is only a copy that never was held in the hands of the loved one!”

Loveletters

It’s true, that the romantic art of the love letter is lost on this generation of snap-chatting and sexting. But what we’ll always pass down is the appreciation for mail and the way letters have inspired lovers and patriots across civilizations. And it all starts with paper, a pen, and a mailbox.

Schaeffler’s design is inspired by romance and drama, with bold colors and graphic prints that pop, and shapes and forms that are both feminine and masculine. It’s a way to honor the lost arts and still have modern design that resonates across generations.

And what could be more romantic than a lover waiting patiently next to a mailbox? Schaeffler can’t imagine.

“Maybe the youngsters see this different, but in my opinion it takes away the romantic part. Yes, emails are fast, but a true handwritten love letter involves taking time to share thoughts and emotions and hopes,” Schaeffler said. “I remember, I always imagined how the sender took off to the post office only for me…”
