311 app screens

When I go on walks with my son and my dog, I sometimes see some really ugly code violations that I wish I could easily report without having to call 311 or head back home to use the Dallas 311 website. So it’s a missed opportunity to be proactive about my neighborhood.

No longer. Today City Hall launches the new Dallas 311 app for iPhone and Android, which will allow anyone to take a picture of a violation and report it instantly.

Users can report high weeds, litter, street repairs, loose animals (a very popular code complaint), an obstruction, an open or vacant structure, illegal signs, graffiti, and illegal dumping.

I am sure neighborhoods in Oak Cliff and elsewhere are thrilled to have this tool to clean up problem areas with a tap of a screen. What do you think?
