Robb & Stucky, R.I.P.

Share News:

Remember Robb & Stucky, that huge furniture mecca up at Legacy and the North Dallas Tollway? As you probably know, Robb & Stucky filed for bankruptcy earlier this year and closed their stores across the U.S. including, of course, the one in Dallas. Friends at the Legacy store told me they were the only profitable shop in the country, but that wasn’t enough to offset the company’s losses. On Feb. 18, the 96-year-old company filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, citing debts of more than $50 million. At one point the company had 30 locations across the U.S. Last January, it has 15. Locally, Robb & Stucky once had a store in Southlake and also at NorthPark Center. I loved Robb & Stucky after I visited their flagship once in Fort Meyers, Florida where the store got its start as a one-store general merchandise emporium, later selling high end furniture to second home owners on Florida’s west coast.

Anyhoo, so sad. But you’ll never believe what will be moving into that 112,400 square foot showroom up there on Legacy: Stacy Furniture.

I’ve never been.

But hey, they are still in bidness.
