Mother’s Day gift ideas: flowers, candy, hugs, a card … all sound pretty standard and boring gifts.

This Mother’s Day weekend, spice it up a bit and take her to the 35th annual Fairmount Tour of Historic Homes in Fort Worth, Texas.

From noon to 6 p.m. this Saturday and Sunday, five beautiful and historic homes will be on display for all to enjoy in the Fairmount neighborhood just south of I-30 and 8th Avenue.

Mother's Day cards are so expensive and impersonal

Mother’s Day Weekend touring homes is better than cards or flowers!

Rain or shine you won’t want to miss seeing some of the finest homes Fort Worth has to offer.  According to the weather report, it is going to be in the mid-to-upper 80s and fantastic!

Where to get tickets

Tickets are $15 online and $20 at the event. Purchase tickets on link below or at event.  T-shirts and posters will also be available.

This year there will be a recently built home on the tour — something that is becoming more popular within the neighborhood as local builders strive to marry strict historic guidelines with floor plans and amenities of today.

Fairmount is located on Fort Worth’s Southside and is noted as the largest historic district in the southwest filled with inviting Craftsman bungalows, Prairie-style four squares, and Victorian houses.

Homes were so simple back then…but so functional, practical and classic

Mother’s Day to Remember

Finally give mother a gift that won’t immediately go into the garbage.  Enough of the melted candy and dying flowers. Make it a Mother’s Day for the ages.

All proceeds benefit the Fairmount Neighborhood Association.  Past tours have helped fund period-appropriate street lights, replace signs and historic markers.

After seeing beautiful homes you can hit Magnolia Avenue for some Heim B-B-Q…scrumptious!
