Jack and Kate LaGere found exactly what they wanted when they least expected it. The couple wasn’t intentionally house hunting when they drove by 3524 Saint Johns Drive and spotted the For Sale sign. But after several subsequent walk-throughs and exploring every nook and cranny, the LaGeres knew the 1928 Tudor was a perfect fit with their family and historic vision.

Since Jack and Kate had three small children, they wanted to live within a safe walking distance to an elementary school and playground. Armstrong Elementary is not only across the street from the historic home, the school is Kate’s old alma mater. The LaGeres had envisioned finding a classic home they could redesign while preserving its history. The Tudor had endless possibilities.

vintage

Oh, just you wait.

Sometimes, you buy a house and it’s older — nay, vintage — but someone has lovingly and thoughtfully updated it. Sometimes, you buy that house and someone has wiped all semblance of its past out and you might not even know what it year it was born in if you didn’t look at the listing.

And sometimes, like last week’s Wednesday WTF, it’s a complete time capsule, seemingly kept hermetically sealed in pristine condition from whatever era it happened until the family it belongs to decided to list it.

1410 Gray Oak Living

This listing from Diana Gonzalez of Kuper Sotheby’s International Realty out of San Antonio is making the rounds at HuffPo and Curbed. It’s an incredibly preserved 1970s mecca that will have you doing the “Time Warp.”

1410 Gray Oak Kitchen

Inside 1410 Grey Oak Dr. you’ll find swag lamps, wood paneling, and a kitchen that could be straight out of “The Brady Bunch.” This house will have you reaching for your bell bottoms and mock turtlenecks! It was also featured on one of my new favorite home decor blogs, Retro Renovation, who compared this home to the incredible sets of American Hustle.

1410 Gray Oak Formal

I totally agree with the folks at the Retro Renovation blog in that I hope this property is purchased by someone who doesn’t gut this amazing time capsule!

Does this bring back memories or what?
