Yet another Cliff May that was on the Casa View Cliff May Home Tour is hitting the market.

I really can’t blame Ben Smithson for deciding to sell his lovely Casa View Oaks Cliff May, as appreciation for these adorable midcentury modern ranches has soared — as have prices for these California cool designs. We just reported that one Cliff May on Andrea Lane was listed for a record-setting $345,000, and now Smithson and his wife, Erin Davis, are listing their Cliff May featured in the inaugural Casa View Cliff May Home Tour for $315,000.

Listing agent David Collier of David Griffin & Company’s Collier Rice team is excited to list this lovely example of an East Dallas midcentury modern.

“You can tell immediately when you enter this home that both of the sellers are in the design business,” Collier said. “Details are what makes the difference in a property and this home is full of them!”

It’s the time of year when we look back on our accomplishments and discoveries for 2016. This Tuesday Two Hundred, published Sept. 13, was a favorite of both readers and the author! Enjoy this flashback.

Cliff May was an midcentury architect known as the father of the California ranch home. These houses were created for the sunny and warm days and nights, with large expanses of glass to minimize the lines between indoors and outdoors. Most rooms in a May-designed home have a wonderful connection between these spaces.

We are lucky in Dallas to have quite a few May homes in East Dallas’ Casa View neighborhood. The Greater Casa View Alliance is spearheading a home tour to show off May homes and bring attention to the significant architecture of the area.

In the neighborhood, we’ve found the newly listed midcentury modern at 2508 Andrea Ln. This is a classic MCM design, with original clerestory windows, a low-slung roofline, open floorplan, and incredible views to the landscaped backyard with custom wrought iron fencing.

This home has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and 1,337 square feet, built in 1955. Its list price is a pleasant surprise at just over $200K.
