We all know Thanksgiving is a two-parter. Tradition One: Stuff yourself silly in a regrettable fashion. Tradition Two: Lose your freaking mind over every deal that dares to call itself a Black Friday offer. Now here’s the real deal – not all Black Friday offers are even that great. However, the ones we post below most definitely are so pull out your pocketbook and get ready to save big.

Thanksgiving Friends episode

Happy Friends-giving from CandysDirt.com!

For this installment of my sometimes weekly motivation column, I offer these 13 things you never knew about Thanksgiving. May your D/FW Thanksgiving be full of grace, and may you avoid the meat sweats.

1. Friends produced a Thanksgiving-themed episode nearly every year of its 10-year run, except for one: 1995, Season two’s “The One With The List.” Writers slipped in a “Mocklate” storyline at the last minute for NBC execs, but it’s the only Friends season not to have a dedicated Thanksgiving episode.

2. A kind Boston man offers a Thanksgiving meal to anyone who RSVPs, and he’s done so for 33 years. The tradition began when the divorced loner took out an ad in the newspaper, inviting others who’d spend the holiday alone to come eat together. Through the years, thousands have come to Scott Macaulay‘s table and given thanks together.

3. The only two teams that host a Thanksgiving Day game every year are the Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys.

Apocryphally, Black Friday is the day when retailers finally turn a profit on the year (not the color of your mother’s bruises getting you a Cabbage Patch doll).  Yes, the month between Thanksgiving and Christmas is the only profitable month and it’s so profitable it makes up for the losses of the remainder of the year.

Real estate is waiting for its own turn at profitability from the depth of the Recession.  You may be cowed into thinking that all of that is behind us. Nope.  You may think that Dallas has recovered.  Nope.

4416 Thunder Front

Talk about a straight-up bargain! This remodeled ranch was built in 1968 and has a whole new lease on life thanks to an amazing renovation. At 4416 Thunder Road you’ll find the perfect combination of curb appeal, layout, upgrades, landscaping, and location for just $445,000.

4416 Thunder Living 4416 Thunder Living 2

Listed by Keller Williams agent Brandon Hawkins, this home is really a great family property with some luxurious finishes you’d usually find in homes priced in the $600s and $700s. The gorgeous hardwood floors and tile, for one, are fabulous touches that make the vaulted ceilings in the living areas feel that much higher. It also emphasizes the open floor plan, which allows you to see clear across the home and through the huge glass doors to the pool and spa in the backyard.

4416 Thunder Den 4416 Thunder Dining

With more than 2,700 square feet of space, you’ll find this home a great size for entertaining family and friends for Christmas, too, and I can just imagine what this family room would look like with a huge tree lit up and covered in baubles for the holidays.

4416 Thunder Kitchen 4416 Thunder Laundry Mudroom

The kitchen is gorgeous, too, with white cabinets, granite counters, a Viking cooktop and venthood, stainless steel double ovens, and a spacious eat-in area. The neutral palette is almost too neutral, though. I am really wanting a bit of personality here, but it will definitely appeal to someone who has a checklist of features for their future kitchen.

4416 Thunder Master 4416 Thunder Master Bath

There are three bedrooms and three-and-a-half baths, with the master clocking in at a sizable 20×13. That’s plenty of room to make this bedroom into a retreat with a king-sized bed and perhaps a chaise lounge and armchair so you can relax and perhaps watch something besides football when the relatives come by to visit.

The master bath is fabulous, with tons of stone and dual vanities and a frameless glass shower. It’s a typical five-piece bath, but I do love the huge window over the jetted tub, the closet access, and all of the storage, which takes up pretty much an entire wall. Very smart and extremely attractive.

4416 Thunder Backyard

The backyard is impressive, too, with a built-in grilling area, a beautiful organic-shaped pool with spa, and a lovely stone patio surrounding the pool. The landscaping is gorgeous, too, with a Japanese maple and crape myrtles that will provide seasonal color, and a great little lawn for enjoying, too.

This home is definitely a deal worthy of Black Friday, that’s for sure!
