Addison-based Realtor Ben Caballero netted top spots in two categories in the 2019 REAL Trends + Tom Ferry International ‘The Thousand.’ Caballero also won a Guinness World Record last year for his sales volume records.

Staff Reports

REAL Trends + Tom Ferry published the 14th annual “The Thousand” list of America’s top 1,000 real estate sales professionals and teams. The national awards ranking sponsored by REAL Trends and Tom Ferry International coaching recognizes the top one-tenth of 1 percent of more than 1.4 million licensed Realtors nationwide.

“The best individual agents and teams’ award-winning efforts were phenomenal considering the competition in the real estate market,” said Steve Murray, president of Castle Rock, Colo.-based consulting company REAL Trends, which compiled the list. The Thousand is divided into four categories, each listing the top 250 designees:

• Individual Agent—Sales Volume
• Individual Agent—Transaction Sides
• Agent Team—Sales Volume
• Agent Team—Transaction Sides

“The real estate sales professionals ranked in The Thousand have proven that they have the skills to grow their businesses year after year,” said Murray. “The average U.S. Realtor sold nine homes in 2018. The average agent ranked in The Thousand sold 217 homes and the average team sold over 562 homes. These kinds of results show that those who commit to being full-time professionals can build meaningful businesses and succeed beyond expectations. Achieving this level of results is simply incredible.”

GreenIt’s a theme week here at CandysDirt — and this week, we’re looking at “green” homes in honor of Saint Patrick’s Day.

You might see a home that has environmentally-friendly features, or you might see, you know, an actual green house. But today, we’re going to show you this gorgeous new construction in the Merion at Midtown Park, a gated community off of Walnut Hill and North Central Expressway that is close to just about anything you could want.

And, in keeping with our theme, it’s LEED certified, and it’s also close to the DART rail station, which means you can give Mother Nature a break occasionally and cool it with the fossil fuels by hopping the train to work or play with minimal fuss. (more…)

Which three Texas communities were on Bloomberg’s list of richest places? How did DFW fare when it comes to mortgage delinquencies? We talk about all that and more in this week’s roundup of real estate news.

Two DFW Places Make Bloomberg List

Highland Park is one of the richest places — no surprise to anyone who has driven through the town, ranking No. 6 in Bloomberg’s list of the wealthiest communities, the publication said. Neighboring University Park came in at No. 17. (more…)

CelinaIt’s both the town that was country enough to appear in a Kenny Chesney video, but fancy enough to be home to two acclaimed vineyards — and people move to Celina every year for that small town feel with the big city amenities.

Halfway between Dallas and Oklahoma, Celina is a straight shot up State Highway 289, and is also right on the Dallas North Tollway extension. Dallas is 45 minutes away and Denton is 35 minutes away, making it easy to enjoy the country life while still being able to access all the shopping, entertainment and more that the city has to offer as well.

And did we mention Celina’s longtime pastime? Because quite possibly the best entertainment to be had in Texas comes on Friday nights in a small town, and Celina offers up some of the best small-town Friday night football in the state, with eight state championships and 40 playoff appearances under its belt.

So for this week’s Suburb Sunday, we trek to Celina, where depending on where you live, you could be in Celina ISD or Prosper ISD. Three homes, three different price points. Which one is your favorite? (more…)

Ben Caballero is setting the bar high. In May, the 70-year-old agent and owner of Addison-based HomesUSA.com earned a Guinness World Record for having the most annual home transactions through MLS by an individual sell-side agent. According to research conducted by REAL Trends, Caballero sold 3,556 homes in 2016. His next closest competitor sold 467.

Before proclaiming him the winner, the Guinness team reviewed evidence and enlisted the help of a CPA to verify his information. An international research team then worked to confirm that nobody else could claim a higher number

“They don’t mess around,” Caballero said regarding the drawn-out process. He credits a web-based platform he designed about 10 years ago for much of his success. The system caters to homebuilders in the Dallas, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio markets. It is able collect and process vast amounts of information very quickly, facilitating a much higher transaction volume.
