3417 Villanova extI love this video by Kevin Day, who is a genius with video. Any day now I expect Hollywood to be calling him — my favorite is the long shot opening that is oh-so DALLAS the series-esque. Anyhow, take a peak inside 3417 Villanova when it was a baby in 2010 as Kevin captured all the glories of the house, from Coffee Park to the master shower with ALL THOSE HEADS! It takes a Village, I guess, even in the Park Cities…

José_Calderón_PistonsJose Calderone, the Mav’s new point guard, came to Dallas from Detroit and I would just love to be a fly on the wall when he and his wife, Ana Hurtado, talk about Dallas real estate. Here is how I think it might have gone the very first time they looked:

“Can you believe these homes? Oh my God, they are so much larger and newer than what we left behind in Detroit,” I imagine Jose might say.

“I am in love with the closets,” I imagine Ana Hurtado would say. “I want Dallas closets wherever we live, wherever. Promise me now.”

“I promise,” I imagine Jose says back.

“Also, there are not as many homes here under water,” Ana might say.

“I know. In Dallas, they all have pools!”

They closed August 16. See, he’s used to that Detroit market. Here in Dallas, drop a couple mill you get 6320 square feet, five bedrooms, five and a half baths, three living areas plus media room, on a quarter acre lot in can’t beat-it University Park. The home was built in 1999 and is across the street from a beautiful park. The style is Santa Barbara smooth and sleek. Of course, he was brought in by Jamie Adams at Briggs Freeman while Patricia Weiner at Dave Perry-Miller was the listing agent for this beauty. Welcome to Dallas, Jose and family — if your action on the court is anything like your real estate buying finesse, we’ve got a great year ahead for the Mavs!

Oh, Villanova has no pool. I’m telling you, it takes awhile to shake Mo-Town off in your rear-view mirror…

Update 11:00 p.m.: so I spoke to Julie P, and she gave me the scoop. Seems she put the house in Facebook Friends, which is how our friends at Busted Coverage must have found out. Julie has been busy with a new wee one! Also the Horcoffs have a baby, too, and wanted to get over to their summer home to free Wentwood for showings. Coats Homes is the builder, and the master is upstairs, plus three bedrooms, fifth bedroom or gameroom on the third level.

Talk about getting out of Dodge as fast as you can. The other thing I find weird about this is that the listing agent, Julie Provenzano, has the home all over Zillow but NOT in MLS, well not yet, at least. Is this the new norm? Thanks to the folks at Busted Coverage for this alert, and then to my good LA Times pal Neal Leitereg for the heads up! Yes, Neal, it does look just like Jose Calderone’s pad, methinks it’s the same builder and designer.
