Dallas Arts Month Continues With Family Events and New Passport Program

Share News:

Dallas Arts Month is halfway through, but there’s still plenty of time to catch the city’s cultural lineup of events. This marks the 13th year for the Dallas Office of Arts and Culture’s monthlong celebration, which spotlights local, national, and international artists (and personally, I think one of the best reasons to live here).

“Dallas Arts Month highlights our flourishing arts ecosystem by amplifying collaboration between artists, organizations, and community members,” said Office of Arts and Culture Director Martine Elyse Philippe. “Our citywide celebration shines a light on the vibrant creativity that makes Dallas a cultural hub. Throughout the month, residents and visitors can experience and enjoy a range of cultural arts activities taking place across the city.”

A programming highlight for Dallas Arts Month is the Dia Del Niño, which is set for Saturday, April 25, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Latino Cultural Center, 2600 Live Oak Street. The Latino Cultural Center advocates for Hispanic arts and culture with bilingual programs, educational initiatives, summer camps, festivals, and community events, making it a natural fit for one of the month’s most family-focused celebrations.

The free event is expected to be a full day of family fun, creativity, and culture with hands-on crafts, LEGO workshops, live performances, lucha libre wrestling, games, and storytime. Plus, bring a toy for the “Juguetes Para Todos” toy drive and receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win custom shoe experiences and a VIP Disco Kids party.

“Every April highlights the power of art to inspire and unite us,” said District 14 Council Member Paul Ridley. “I look forward to the many opportunities in April to support our arts organizations as they continue shaping Dallas’ cultural landscape, showcase new work, and welcome new audiences.”

The Other Art Fair Creates Dallas Arts Month Passport

A new addition to this year’s arts programming is the Dallas Arts Month Passport presented by The Other Art Fair, a global art fair known for showcasing emerging artists in an interactive setting. To encourage more engagement across the city’s arts community, the Passport gives audiences a chance to experience Dallas arts events and earn prizes for attending. The OAC says they want to create shared momentum around Dallas Arts Month as well as spotlight events from valued Fair partners as passport stops.

Passport participants can collect stamps by visiting participating programs throughout April, unlocking rewards like a chance to win a $50 art voucher and discounted admission to The Other Art Fair Dallas, which takes place May 7-10 at Dallas Market Hall.

Participating events include:

Dallas Arts Month sounds pretty fun. Any particular family events you’d recommend checking out?

The event this coming Saturday at the Latino Cultural Center looks to be a really fun event. I wrote about it in the story and has a link to claim free tickets. Have fun!
