A good friend of mine just loves, loves, loooovvveeessss Hallmark Christmas movies. She simply cannot get enough of them. You know the movies I’m talking about. Typically, some city slicker returns home for Christmas to the quaint little hometown from whence they broke free so many years earlier, only to fall in love with a past romance. At the end of the movie, they give up their city livin’ and move back to their small hometown and live a life of bliss with their newfound love.
You can spot a Hallmark Christmas movie a mile away because there is an overabundance of flannel worn by everyone, and the characters have names along the lines of Gentry, Britt, Buckley, or Emory.
For her Christmas gift this year, my friend and her husband are going to spend a weekend in Granbury, since that is the perfect small town getaway that you would find in one of these Hallmark Christmas movies. Having lived in a number of these towns in my younger days, I know how cute and quaint they are. (I also know that I have reached the point in my life where I love my pampered life in the big city, but that’s me.)
If you long for the quaint life, I have found the perfect home for peaceful rest and relaxation in Granbury, where the town’s historic downtown square has carriage rides, local shops, and nightly light displays that truly feel like a Hallmark movie come to life. Located just 90 minutes away from Dallas, this would make an absolutely wonderful second home. Whether or not you bring the appropriate amount of flannel is completely up to you.
