Starting Quarterbacks’ Texas Mansions Face Off

At the end of every Super Bowl, there’s always one question asked that’s almost as iconic as the game itself: “Where to next?” For the two starting quarterbacks facing off this year, the answer just might be “My mansion back in Texas.”

The Philadelphia Eagles’ Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs both hail from the Lone Star State, and they’ve made sure to always have a place there to rest their heads.

Mahomes has been making headlines in recent years for amassing a considerable real estate portfolio worth millions of dollars. The Texas Tech alum and Tyler native owns luxury homes in both Missouri and Texas. While his primary residence may be in Belton, Mo., he maintains an off-season property in D-FW.

He and his wife Brittany own a 7,844-square-foot mansion in the Westlake neighborhood of Vaquero, an exclusive private residential development and golf club just a mile off State Highway 114 in northeast Tarrant County.

The four-bedroom, seven-bath home was built in 2014 and sits on a half-acre lot that has a sweeping view of the par-71 golf course from the expansive canopied back patio.

Inside the spacious estate, visitors are greeted by a two-story living room with a linear gas-powered fireplace, a floating staircase, and telescoping patio doors.

There’s no shortage of bedroom space at this house for the couple and their three kids. It features two full-size bedroom suites upstairs along with a game room and an impressive balcony overseeing the 18-hole course. There is also a loft above the downstairs study connected by a spiral staircase and a fourth bedroom downstairs.

The master suite comes tricked out with a spa bathroom featuring an infinity edge bathtub, a 180-degree view of the golf course and neighborhood, privacy shades, and a walk-in closet with its own makeup space.

Downstairs, the couple can entertain with their temperature-controlled wine room and spacious dining area that can seat at least a dozen people. While it’s unclear what kind of upgrades and remodeling they’ve done to customize their Westlake home’s kitchen, the property was sold with flat panel cabinetry, two islands in the kitchen featuring marble countertops, and all the necessary appliances.

Outside, the Mahomes(es?) and company enjoy a generously sized swimming pool, a sunken deck grill grotto, a spa, and a fire pit area to lounge around in.

Mahomes reportedly snagged the mansion for a cool $3.37 million in 2020, a good deal below the asking price of $4.26 million and a drop in the bucket for a premier player signed to a $450 million contract. He’s also not the only football player in the neighborhood. As previously reported by CandysDirt.com, former Dallas Cowboys running back and U.S. Senate hopeful Herschel Walker also maintains a residence in Vaquero. It was also reported by the New York Post that Mahomes bought the home from former San Diego Chargers offensive tackle Andrew Gissinger III’s estate.

For his part, Jalen Hurts didn’t spend big at the start of his career, choosing instead to rent an apartment in New Jersey and buy his parents a relatively modest home in Humble, Texas.

That all changed in 2021 when the University of Alabama and University of Oklahoma alum reportedly threw down $6 million for a 1950s estate in the Houston suburb of Atascocita.

The home reportedly spans 6,000 square feet and includes six bedrooms and six bathrooms. Situated on a 10-acre lot, Hurts and his fiancé have plenty of space and privacy. The latter seems assured considering the Houston-area native also bought the smaller neighboring property for $2.68 million, according to Total Pro Sports. That house is a four-bedroom, four-bath residential with 4,000 square feet of interior space. It sits on a one-acre lot.

Hurts’ primary mansion in Atascocita reportedly features a big swimming pool and two garages, one of which is unattached and can fit up to four vehicles.

Unfortunately, CandysDirt.com was unable to pin down the precise property. Photos of the luxury home are also conspicuously absent online, but one enterprising social media account seems to think it’s nailed down the residence, offering a Google aerial view of Hurts’ suspected mansion and its surroundings.
