Kelly Hoodwin of Altura Homes was installed last month as the 82nd president of the Dallas Builders Association. Hoodwin accepted the ceremonial gavel from luxury builder Adam Lingenfelter at an aviation-themed Installation of Leadership held Oct. 11 at the Frontiers of Flight Museum in Dallas.
Also installed were 2024-2025 officers Matt Walls of Winston Custom Homes, first vice president; Landon Hood of HistoryMaker Homes, vice president/secretary; Matt Robinson of BGE Inc., associate vice president; and Steve Puckett of Prosperity Bank, treasurer.
All officers serve one-year terms. The 2024-2025 Board of Directors and division and council leadership were also sworn into office.
Media personality and brand ambassador Amy Vanderoef served as emcee. She is best known for her role as the Emmy-nominated host on WFAA’s Good Morning Texas.

Awards Presentation
The Installation of Leadership also featured the presentation of some of the Dallas BA’s most prestigious awards. The Clyde Anderson Associate of the Year Award recognizes an associate member’s contributions to and support of the Dallas BA. The Shorty Howard Trophy goes to the year’s top membership recruiter.
Burgess Construction Consultants was named the 2024 Clyde Anderson Associate of the Year. Peter Burgess, Russell Burgess, and Chris Davis accepted the award from last year’s recipient, Tiffany Acree of StrucSure Home Warranty.

The award is given annually to the associate member who has done the most to support the Association and the home-building industry. It was renamed in honor of the 2017 recipient, Clyde Anderson, “an exemplary salesman who applied those skills in service to the Dallas Builders Association, serving it in just about every capacity you could imagine,” Dallas BA officials said in a news release.
Burgess has been a member of the Dallas Builders Association for 28 years. The consultants have played a significant role in advocacy, providing timely information on tax credits and keen insight into building and energy codes in the region, association officials said.
Shorty Howard Award
Chris Clay with 2-10 Homebuyers Warranty received the Shorty Howard Award, given annually to the Association’s top membership recruiter.
This was Clay’s third time to be honored with the Shorty Howard Award, named after one of the Dallas BA’s legendary figures, an associate member who “lived for bringing in members,” association officials said.

“Being the Association’s top membership recruiter at the time of his untimely death, Shorty Howard set an example that, today, the Dallas BA embraces as the embodiment of commitment,” the news release states.
In addition to title partner StrucSure Home Warranty, several other companies and individuals contributed to the event’s success.
