I’m going to go out on a limb and say that the recreation center in Bell Buckle, Tennessee has one heck of an arts and crafts class. The star pupil in that class is the owner of the house featured in this week’s column and woo doggy are their talents on display.

It does not matter the medium. The classes at the Bell Buckle rec covered them all. “This one-of-a-kind home is a living work of art.” If it is in the description, then it must be true.

I do love creative people. It does not matter that the giraffe is disfigured or that you can not make out what exactly the tile letters say above the front door. The fact is that these folks love giraffes and they had something to say. All I can make out is “We cannot cure the world of” and that’s as far as I get. I’ll be honest, I’m sad that I can not make out the rest of the saying. There’s so much that we can not cure the world of, I want to know what the giraffe people are thinking can not be cured. I digress.

Maybe, just maybe, I have spent a little too much time looking at these photos. The tile archway is pretty cool and the deer makes me think that the giraffe was the first tile animal they did. But my absolute favorite tile pictures are the ones of the cats hanging next to the desk. These are good people and good pet owners. You have to respect pet owners who make pictures of their pets.

Another lovely archway that does a really nice job matching the colors of the living room. In the first photo, you can see they have a ramp that leads up to the couch. Good owners.

Now it’s a little odd to have the kitchen this close to the living room. It also seems as though the woodworking class did not go as planned. It looks as though someone took a hatchet to the table/bar. There’s not enough Elmer’s Wood Glue to fix that damage.

Or, yes, that could have happened too. My, my, my. You are welcome.

The painting of the dog is worth the nearly $500,000 price tag. The artist captured what a really good boy that dog is.

This is their mosaic masterpiece. The best tile work in the whole house.

The bathroom takes a noticeably different design approach. Yes, you can say it was awfully creative to come up with two steps to get into and out of your shower, but where is the color that we have become accustomed to? Subway tile, a worn bamboo chair, and burlap stapled onto the step is all we get?

So there we go my peoples, I have provided you enough proof that Bell Buckle is the place to go for those arts and crafts classes you’ve been wanting. They will most definitely not be a rip off.

Woo doggy! Now that’s a rip off.

Sitting on fives acres in Bell Buckle, Tennessee, this home is listed for $489,000.
