Why This I. M. Pei Home’s Provenance Matters

Fort Worth real estate doesn’t keep secrets like this for long.
A landmark home designed by I.M. Pei in Westover Hills is heading to market with a reported $22 million price tag. The approximately 19,000-square-foot estate sits on four acres in one of North Texas’ most private enclaves, but for Fort Worth, the story is just as much about the family behind it.
The House That ‘Big Anne’ Built

The home was commissioned in 1969 by Fort Worth oil heiress Anne Burnett Tandy — often called “Miss Anne” or “Big Anne” — and her husband, Charles Tandy.
Anne Burnett came from one of Texas’ most storied families, the granddaughter of ranching magnate Samuel Burk Burnett. (Yes, Burkburnett, TX carries his name.) Anne grew up on her family’s west Texas ranch and eventually inherited the legendary 6666 Ranch, which was sold five years ago to representatives of Taylor Sheridan.

Charles, a TCU graduate who later attended Harvard Business School and served as an officer in the U.S. Navy, built a business empire that grew from a leathercraft company into Tandy Corp., a retail powerhouse that grew to include RadioShack, Pier 1 Imports, and other national brands.
Together, they were a defining Fort Worth power couple — and they needed a house that could match the scale of their lives.
Enter ‘Little Anne’

After Charles Tandy’s death in 1978 and Big Anne’s in 1980, the home passed to their daughter, Anne Marion, a prominent Fort Worth philanthropist known around Fort Worth as “Little Anne.”
Her life traced a similar arc of influence, with ties to both the West Texas family ranch and Fort Worth society. Born in 1938, Anne was educated at Hockaday in Dallas and Miss Porter’s School in Connecticut before attending the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Geneva in Switzerland, where she majored in art history.
She became a major arts patron and philanthropist, later founding the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum in Santa Fe with her husband, John Marion.
In 2022, Texas Christian University announced that its medical school would be named the Anne Burnett Marion School of Medicine, in recognition of her support. Anne Marion died in 2020 at the age of 81.
Why This Listing Matters
With that history behind it, the estate is now stepping back into the spotlight — this time as one of the region’s most anticipated listings.
“It’s all the buzz,” said a well-connected Realtor, who is not involved in the listing. “It’s a great opportunity for someone to own a piece of Fort Worth history.”
The property is being listed by Ashley Mooring with Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty, who has handled a number of high-profile listings in North Texas.
