Walls of Glass Coalesce To Create a Contemporary Treasure in North Dallas

If you’re like me, you found yourself locked in a movie marathon last weekend. With the inclement weather, I revisited an array of 90s thrillers, from Misery (fitting) to Miller’s Crossing. As Apple TV served a steaming session of edge-of-your-seat action, it eventually offered one of my all-time favorites: Daniel Stackheim’s The Glass House. Set in Malibu and starring Leelee Sobieski, it features one of the most iconic architectural gems in film history.
With its cliffside vantage and modern mystique, the home at the center of this movie captured my elementary school imagination. Revisiting the flick, I wondered if there was anything like it in Dallas.
After Zillow hunting, I found my four-bedroom, four-bathroom, 3,902-square-foot window-clad white whale. And it’s right here in North Dallas.
From the outside, this home exudes the same contemporary stature that Stackheim leveraged to elevate aesthetics and up the intensity. With pristal glass block accents, white finishes, and meticulous landscaping, it’s a modern classic just like the movie itself.

The interior is curated to inspire awe from every angle. With floor-to-ceiling windows across nearly every major space, this home unfolds like a crystal palace. The open layout and expansive ceilings add to its allure, giving it a palatial presence. With multiple fireplace-adorned living spaces, a large dining room, and in an intuitive flow, this is an entertainer’s dream home.
“This is a really dynamic home inside and out,” said listing agent Marlene Jaffe with Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate. “Each of the main spaces features massive windows, so the whole home is enveloped in natural light and complemented by beautiful views.”
At the center of this listing, a chic chef’s kitchen allows for elevated culinary endeavors. With Scandinavian-style cabinets, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and gas cooktops, this glass house delivers a gourmet experience.

Like in most of this home, bamboo flooring blankets the primary suite. Here, privacy is balanced with natural lighting, creating a space that encourages any style.

Then, the ensuite bathroom stuns with its contemporary interpretation. With marble appointments and rich wood tones, it sets a sophisticated tone. Of course, the stand-alone soaking tub and seamless walk-in shower add luxury appeal to its refined amenity set.

Like the home in the 2001 hit thriller, this North Dallas house features a ton of square footage. With multiple bedrooms and a downstairs office, there’s plenty of space for any arrangement.
Finally, the backyard evokes a Hollywood-caliber oasis with a sleek pool and spa surrounded by tasteful landscaping. A grilling station and tons of green space make this the perfect venue for gatherings of any kind.
I wonder what other lookalikes I might find in North Texas. Maybe a Home Alone colonial, a Forrest Gump plantation home, or even an Iron Man mansion? Who knows?
Marlene Jaffe with Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate has 12123 Madeleine Cir. listed for $1.71 million.
