When Rhonda and Fraser Marcus moved back to Dallas in 2009, they wanted a family home in Preston Hollow, close to great schools. It had to flow well for entertaining adults as well as kids. “This one was the perfect style and in the best location,” Rhonda said.  And it still is!

I’ve always said you can tell how well a home lives by how long a family has been there, and 16 years says all we need to know. The Frasers have been the only owners of this Preston Hollow home, purchasing it from the developer.

In 2020, they hired one of Dallas’ most highly regarded luxury builders, Paul Pastore of Waterside Homes, to substantially rebuild and renovate their 6,030-square-foot, five-bedroom Preston Hollow home.

“We redid everything from the roof to the floors,” Fraser said.

The entire interior got a makeover, and all the systems, from electrical to HVAC, were updated.

“What we liked initially, in 2009, were the warm, dark colors and styles,” Rhonda said. “Over the years, our tastes changed, and now the house is bright with tons of natural light. We brought it up to today’s standards and taste levels. It’s really a great house, and it’s so surprising because it looks traditional from the outside, but when you go inside, you don’t expect all the light and the modern features.”

From the vaulted family room with a dramatic fireplace to the first-floor primary suite with French doors to the patio, it’s hard to pick a favorite spot for morning coffee or an evening cocktail.

You also know how great a house is when the kids keep coming back. What was once the upstairs playroom over the garage has become a game and media area for the adult kids. “It’s where the college sophomores hang out on the weekends,” Fraser said.

The Preston Hollow home also features a Savant Smart Home integration, Cat 6 wiring, a seven-zone sound system, and security cameras.

When you are looking for the perfect home, you are also looking for a great neighborhood.

“We have little neighborhood traditions,” Rhonda said. “Everyone decorates with luminarias, and the entire neighborhood is lit up at Christmas.”

If you have school-aged children, you could not be better located. This Preston Hollow home is located in what locals refer to as the private school corridor. “We are across from the Episcopal School of Dallas and down the street from Ursuline, and there are there are a lot of St. Mark’s students in the neighborhood,” Rhonda said.

You really have it all here, a great house that lives well, and a great neighborhood!
