This is Halloween: Dallas Decorations to Make You Scream

This is Halloween, This is Halloween!
Pumpkins scream in the dead of night.
This Is Halloween, everybody make a scene.
Trick or treat till the neighbor’s gonna die of fright.
It’s spooky season! The greatest time of year! Well, at least to a certain demographic which includes my husband who, I kid you not, had our Halloween decorations our the week after Labor Day. (Because Halloween before Labor Day is considered gauche.) And when I say Halloween decorations, I mean approximately 10 inflatables and a giant spider web, to which we added two live action creatures with sound this year: a witch and some kind of creepy headless knight.
That’s not including the several crates worth of indoor decorations. Various iterations of “Beware,” “Boo,” and “Trick or Treat,” around the house. Multiple spiders and webs. Bottles of poison for the bar. Frankenstein lives in the niche along with the Wicked Witch of the East’s severed feet with ruby red slippers. The entire Addams family has a place of honor under the stairs. You’re getting the picture, I would imagine.
But not everyone lives like I do, in Halloween paradise, 24/7. I swear, I came home from the store to find my new neighbors had put up a couple of Halloween decorations in their yard, and a literal tear came to my eye. They like us! Or at the very least, we haven’t scared them away!
In any case, if you prefer to visit Halloween decor rather then the full immersion, here are a few fun Halloween displays you can go see this year:
Go BIG in Preston Hollow

You have to give it to these folks. They LOVE the holidays. The owners of this grand estate at 6215 Deloache Avenue see a holiday decoration sale and they say, “Buy all of it.” Famous for going viral at Christmastime, they’re back for Halloween with ghosts, ghouls, and lots of lights. No doubt the neighbors are thrilled.
Best Neighborhood Decor

The Deerfield Neighborhood in Plano takes it for both Christmas and Halloween, and I hear the Trick-or-Treating is epic here, too. Like the Neighborhood Association literally asks you if you’re going to be willing to participate in the holiday decorations when you join, and I don’t think it’s exactly “optional,” if you know what I mean. I kid, I kid. But these folks are serious about their holiday fun, and I am HERE FOR IT!
The Deerfield Neighborhood is in Northwest Plano west of Legacy and Coit.
Visit the Wizarding World in East Dallas

The Diagon Alley House is located in Old East Dallas near Beacon St and Bryan Parkway, this home brings the Wizarding World of Harry Potter to life, complete with themed decorations through a miniature version of Diagon Alley. You can visit the Facebook page and see the owners as they craft their yearly display and post pictures of visitors.
Whether you like to go big with your Halloween decor, or you swicth off the lights on Halloween and pretend the whole thing isn’t happening — well, no actually, not you, you aren’t even reading this — no matter how you celebrate the spooky season, may your treats be many and your tricks be few.
Tell us what you’re going as in the comments! I’m dressing up as the Derpy Tiger demon cat from K-Pop Demon Hunters, because I have a 7 year old daughter who is obviously obsessed with K-Pop Demon Hunters.
