Montgomery Custom Homes Has Your Disney Street Dream

When Midway Hills was platted in the mid-1950s, the developers cleverly named the streets after Walt Disney characters. Who wouldn’t want to live in a home on Pinocchio Drive, Cinderella Lane, or Wonderland Trail? There are a variety of architectural styles in the Dallas neighborhood, but one of the most exciting we’ve seen is this two-story timeless transitional by Montgomery Custom Homes.

Matt Montgomery is a third-generation home builder and has been building houses since 2003. His grandfather was a builder, and his dad grew up building homes as well. However, Montgomery gravitated to the business and finance world before coming back around to building. It was in his DNA, and you’ll find photos of his grandpa on his office wall.

“It’s fun for my dad to see that the building business has come full circle in our family,” Montgomery said. “I think he’s living vicariously through our work at MCH.”

Montgomery cut his builder’s teeth with David Weekley Homes. They had a great training program, and he learned a lot, but opening his own company was always the plan.

Montgomery specializes in custom homes, and his home on Snow White Drive is an excellent example of his approach to design. Finished in 2023, the 5,616 square-foot home has four bedrooms, four full- and two half-bathrooms, a gym, a sauna, a storage/flex room, and a third-car detached garage that is fully encapsulated.

The kitchen features custom white oak cabinetry, a waterfall-edge island, a Thermador 36 built-in refrigerator and freezer, a 24-inch wine column, beverage drawers, and a built-in ice maker.

Of course, the finish-out is beautiful. There are white oak floors throughout the home, unique tile treatments in the bathrooms, and spa-like features in the primary bath, but there is so much more here.

“The layout is really comfortable,” Montgomery said. The spaces feel good, and you have everything you need. After 20 years of building, we’ve learned that if we design each room and space as if we were going to be living here, the end product truly feels exceptional.”

It’s easy to see the intentionality when you begin to notice features like the ventilated pantry, the thoughtful design of the study, a hidden safe room,  and the heated limestone floors in the primary bathroom. It’s these unique touches that make a difference in a Montgomery Custom Home.

My favorite feature is for the dog because dogs figure as big in my life as they do in Montgomery’s. He built a 30-inch-deep dog sanctuary in this home, providing a comfortable and safe space for your furry friend.

“What I like to do for people who are dog lovers is design the dog door into the home in the planning stage with the architect,” Montgomery said. “I like to hide them on the patio or off the back of the house so you cannot see the door if you are looking over the fence. We’ll design an opening at the end of an outdoor kitchen or in it, and disguise it so it might look like where you would store charcoal or wood. I have also been a big proponent of electronic dog doors. The pet wears a sensor on their collar, and when it gets close, it opens automatically. It locks, so it’s safe.”

Montgomery builds for families, so the backyard is important. “It’s a great setup,” he said. There is a pool and spa, a built-in Coyote pellet smoker, an outdoor refrigerator, and a turfed lawn with plenty of space for the kids to play. It’s a 100% turn-key property that has been designed for a family that can move in and enjoy it from day one.

“I’m a people person,” Montgomery said. “I cherish the idea of being able to build a home for someone’s family where they will establish their lives. It’s an honor to do that.”
