Another Fabulous Ju-Nel Drops TONIGHT!

This rediscovered Ju-Nel home in Sylvania Dells was completed in 1962 and sold to Richard and Jane Hoierman for $32,000. The Hoiermans owned the house until 2007 when they sold it to the Niemann family. So, two owners in 65 years tells you all you need to know. It goes live tonight, and it will go fast!
If you are new to our historic preservation features, Ju-Nel is the company created by midcentury architects Lyle Rowley and Jack Wilson — who combined their wives’ first names for the company name.

Mark Weeks has become the steward of Ju-Nel homes with his excellent website, Ju-Nel Mid-Century Masters. He was kind enough to alert me to his newest listing at 9014 Capri Dr. last night, and boy, is it amazing.
“This is one of the first of approximately 50 Ju-Nel homes to be released which are not known in the public domain,” Weeks said. “I refer to them as ‘rediscovered’ or ‘found’ homes. The Hoierman house is a perfect fit for the first to be released.”
One of the loveliest stories Weeks found out when he talked to the owners centers on those incredible courtyard gates. Apparently, when the Neimanns purchased the house, the original wooden gates had seen better days. The Neimanns took the time to find a craftsman who recreated the original design in steel. Now, you can see the dedication Ju-Nel owners put into their homes!

This Ju-Nel has 2,550 square feet, four bedrooms, and three bathrooms. Weeks has original photos on his website and floor plans, so take a moment to browse them.
What they will reveal is the genius of Rowley and Wilson and why families stay in Ju-Nel homes for decades. They were designed to be family-friendly. The layout of this home is in a U-shape, with the living area connecting the bedrooms on one side and the kitchen, dining, and office spaces on the other. All of this surrounds the courtyard, ensuring privacy.

Mrs. Hoierman had a fondness for Japanese art, and the home reflects her style with the original sliding shoji screen between the office and family room, as well as the cork flooring used throughout the house —a sustainable and smart choice.

That family-friendly Ju-Nel style is found in ways you would not expect. One of their hallmarks was the inclusion of built-in drawers and cabinets, which are visible below the clerestory windows in the front bedroom. This is one of those smart features that today’s builders should adopt because it makes perfect sense.

The home sits on just under a half acre, featuring a large backyard and mature trees that provide a massive shade canopy, another family-friendly aspect of the property.
Mark Weeks has this flawless Ju-Nel at 9014 Capri Dr. available for $1.1 million. Better hurry. It goes live tonight!
What an incredible home! The neighborhood full of mid-century gems is unique for Dallas. Hopefully the next owner will appreciate its history and preserve this special property.
Great neighbors! 🙂
Flawless home! I love that he’s doing this. I recently learned a home I owned previously is one of Mark’s “found” homes. So cool!!
