Janet Goldschmidt’s California Modern Takes Dallas Real Estate to a New Level

When uber-luxury stager George Bass texted me a photo of this magnificent California Modern mansion, he didn’t have to add any context. It was an IFKYK moment. I knew immediately it was a Janet Goldschmidt design.
Several years ago, I interviewed a handful of the top luxury Realtors, who all told me the same thing: “We don’t have what buyers coming to Dallas want.”
It was true. Sure, we had beautiful homes, but with precious few exceptions, there was a Dallas Look. With the massive relocations from both coasts that we saw during the pandemic, buyers had to settle for existing homes. But they wanted more, and they wanted something much different than we had on offer. So architects, builders, and designers got to work. We see the results today, and while they are gorgeous, no one brings what New York-based Goldschmidt does.

“Everything is always a little bit different,” Allie Beth Allman listing agent Lauren Savareigo said. “It’s a modern masterpiece that we just have not seen yet in Dallas.”
Savareigo and her partner Julie Haymann formed the Key Team in 2007 and represent some of the most luxurious properties in Dallas. They have been the exclusive listing agents for Goldschmidt since her first Dallas project.

Goldschmidt has an innate knack for combining functionality with aesthetics to create sophisticated homes that meet the needs of discerning clients today. Her spec homes are cutting-edge, introducing things we just don’t see here yet.
That’s because Goldschmidt sources not only in New York but also globally. She can spot what will be trending before it actually becomes a trend.

This California Modern home is situated on nearly an acre of land, spanning 8,471 square feet and featuring six bedrooms, six bathrooms, a media room, a home office, and a four-car garage. There is also a 600-square-foot casita behind the home for guests.
The WOW factor begins the moment you arrive, with a marble-clad entry facade and a front door surrounded by glass. There are soaring 20-foot-high ceilings and the formal living area features a dramatic double-sided fireplace.

One of the many things I love about this California Modern is Goldschmidt’s signature use of glass. Here, she designed sliding glass walls to create separation in the expansive kitchen. With double islands, Thermador appliances, and Florense cabinetry, this is a Gordon Ramsay-worthy showcase.

I don’t use the term ‘jaw-dropping’ lightly, and in this California Modern, everywhere you turn, you seriously have to consider whether your mouth is gaping open in awe. That will be challenging when you reach the primary suite, as it features a bathroom wrapped in porcelain, onyx, and marble. The dramatic black bathtub alone will have you speed-dialing your banker.

Of course, you cannot put a magnificent property like this on the market without staging it. The team at George Bass Stage and Design, with staging lead Paul Taylor and designer Devin Savage, collaborated closely with Goldschmidt to bring her vision of livable luxury and effortless sophistication to life.

The turfed backyard has everything you could possibly need, from the outdoor kitchen and putting green to the heated pool with an Alex Turco water feature.

The Key Team has this California Modern at 10846 Crooked Creek Ct. in Preston Hollow available for $9.5 million.
