Your Retirement Days Are Calling You to the Texas Coast and Crystal Beach

It is more than apparent that the Gusman and I are no longer in our “spring chicken” phase of life. As we schedule our dueling colonoscopies, we have started discussing our retirement. I was still living at home when my parents started discussing their retirement. That led them to purchase a condo across from the Gulf Islands National Seashore in Florida.

Unit #1 was glorious. All you had to do was cross the street and you were ankle deep in sugar white sand and the views of the ocean were always just right outside the door. What made it even nicer is that the condo was just a five-hour drive away. Long weekends at the beach became a thing. Life was good.

While coming up with a beach option like my parents did would be optimal, I still live with my feet planted on the ground. However, for you, I searched for fun, future retirement spots and found a bounty of beach homes for sale all along the Texas Gulf Coast. Here’s one great option:

Ease into Retirement at Crystal Beach

Located on the Bolivar Peninsula, Crystal Beach is in Galveston County and has a drive time of a little more than five hours from Dallas. If you close your eyes you can hear the surf. As lovely as the view is, let us take a look inside.

The airy, open-concept is a huge selling point to this home. This is the kind of living room you can just come plop yourself in and relax after a day at the beach.

You have an unbelieable amount of natural light throughout the living room and kitchen. As an added bonus, the open kitchen lets you stay connected to what everyone is doing or watching in the living room. This all makes for a very homey getaway.

While all the furnishings convey, you still have plenty of opportunity to add decorations and art that will add your unique flair to the home much like this warm-tile backsplash.

Enough Space for Hosting the Entire Family

The beach house has a total of four bedrooms and three bathrooms. There is enough space in this nearly 3,000 square foot home to host your children and your grandchildren.

Would it even be a real beach house if there weren’t bunk beds? You can almost hear the laughs and giggles that will be coming out of this room.

The really fun part of this home is the outdoors.

The size of the deck is an absolute dream. There is plenty of room to add other tables or simply add more chairs so you can look over the Gulf as you sip your drink or feast on your meal.

But wait, there is yet another area for entertaining.

What is the point of even owning a beach house if you can’t have your friends and family over for parties? The ground level deck has a fantastic bar area and space for people to relax.

Probably the best idea for this home was the downstairs shower.

No need to worry about sand being dragged into your home. Folks can get the extra sand off and take a breather before heading upstairs.

While the Gusman and I are still several years away from retirement, it is fun to daydream about beach house options like this. My eyes are closed and I am hearing the surf.
