Pick a Peak at Stevens Park Village Porch for a Perfect Perch

There are lots of great reasons to buy a house, and a spectacular front porch combined with fantastic curb appeal can be two great reasons.
Price and neighborhood, of course, can be convincing, too. The listing of 2333 Lawndale Drive in Stevens Park Village in Dallas has all the above. But let’s start with the front porch.
The porch, which is a huge part of the 1941 home’s curb appeal, is deceptively large. It measures 21 feet across, says listing Realtor Amy Timmerman with Dave Perry Miller Real Estate.
“I love the front porch,” she said. “It doesn’t even look that long until you get up there on it. It’s a neat little perch.”
Perfect Neighborhood Perch

That neat little perch is not only a perfect place to wave to the neighbors in what is reported to be a friendly community, but also to survey the lovely front yard. The expansive lot, which would be perfect for welcoming neighbors, is lushly landscaped. Evidently the neighbors enjoy plant sharing, and this array of plants tends to attract butterflies in the spring.
Walk through the front door of this Austin stone home into a foyer that opens to a large living room. Hardwoods are found throughout this three-bedroom, 1,995-square-foot home. The most noticeable trait of the house, according to its Realtor, is the amount of natural light.
“There are so many windows, and the light just pours in,” Timmerman said.
Updates With Charm

Those windows are among the updates found here. All have been replaced, allowing the light to shine on the newly painted interior. Other updates include the addition of marble, including surround of the living room fireplace, kitchen countertops, the guest bathroom countertop, and the primary bathroom floor. Other kitchen modifications include stainless steel appliances and a stainless steel undermount sink. Even with these renovations, the original charm of the house remains.
“They’ve tried to stay true to the style of the home with their updates and new fixtures,” Timmerman said.
Her favorite part of the house isn’t even displayed among the MLS photos, but it has stayed frozen in time. It’s the attic.
“I think this is the best thing about the house in the attic,” she said. “At some point, the upstairs attic space was used as their sewing room, so it looks like a time capsule from the 1970s.”
Newer features can be found outside. There’s a chicken coop—which can be negotiated into the sales price—and a backyard workshop. It measures 16 feet by 16 feet, making it a nice spot for a hobby or for equipment storage.
Stevens Park Village
Located in popular Stevens Park Village, this north Oak Cliff location is not officially in the historic conservation area, Timmerman said, even though most abide by historic codes. Some passionate neighbors, though, she thinks are working toward that goal.
“They’re trying to push it through right now, much like the M Streets and Hollywood Heights,” she said.

So, all this — great neighborhood, fabulous curb appeal, modern updates, and that impressive front porch — comes with a decent price tag. The house is listed at $597,500, making it worthy of the CandysDirt.com Friday $500,000 this week.
“It’s so cute and it’s a huge lot for the price,” Timmerman said. Want to see for yourself? The house will be held open from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
