Hillcrest Estates

When not only the home builder but our own Candy Evans chooses to live in Hillcrest Estates, you know there’s something special about it.

The neighborhood lies north of Preston Hollow, bounded by Forest Lane, Preston Road, Royal Lane, and Hillcrest Road. It’s next door to Preston Hollow, but if these two were siblings, Hillcrest Forest would be the ladylike, quiet sister that causes heads to turn without saying a word when she enters a room.

This massive estate sits in the heart of the neighborhood, and I’m serious when I say you can easily borrow a glass of champagne from our dear publisher because she is only a few houses away and adores living here.

Nolen Homes built this spectacular estate, and they love the neighborhood as well. Nolen is a family company founded in 1975 by Ray and Jane Nolen. After building more than 250 homes, they turned over the reins in 2007 to Amy and Clint, who have expanded the family’s homebuilding business and added interior design into the mix. In my opinion, what has always set Nolen Homes apart is that family viewpoint on construction. When you have kids, you know organization and storage are essential to a well-functioning home. Logic is at the core of every build, and that is refreshing.

The state-of-the-art kitchen has commercial-grade Thermador appliances and an enormous marble island. It opens to the family living room, which has views of the backyard.

This 9,844-square-foot Hillcrest Estates traditional home sits in the middle of Ricks Circle on Belmead and is a hair under an acre. It’s a ‘Why would you ever leave home?’ kind of house. That’s another thing Nolen Homes understands. They build homes that serve the entire family and their friends! Not only are there five bedrooms, six bathrooms, and two powder baths, which you expect from an estate of this size, but there is also so much more.

A tiered home theatre, a game room, and the most adorable attic playroom provide endless entertainment for kids and adults alike. That entertainment factor rises once you open those gorgeous French doors to the backyard.

There is a full outdoor kitchen and patio, along with a pool, gated for the safety of children, a spa, a fire pit, and a sport court. With almost an acre, there’s plenty of room for a family football game or the entire soccer team to practice here.

This is one of those great little neighborhood pockets that you wouldn’t know about unless you lived in Dallas. Russwood Acres is another one, though different in character, but still wonderful.

And although I have friends that live there, I didn’t know the neighborhood was called Hillcrest Estates until now! So thank you.
