Seeking Sleek Modern With Room for Horses: This Waxahachie Contemporary Checks the Box

Caroline Brooke wanted a home where she could walk out the door and get on her horse. She never expected to find her fit in a Waxahachie contemporary home.
“We did not want a farmhouse,” Caroline said. “We like modern architecture, so it was a tall order to find a contemporary house with enough land for a horse. We’d almost given up when this one popped up. It was a dazzling contemporary house on four acres with a barn and beautiful peach and pear trees!”

Caroline and her husband Mark Bench called Ebby Halliday agent Sherri Jansing to see this Waxahachie contemporary the day after it was listed and bought it immediately. It’s not surprising because this sleek home captures your attention at the curb.
It’s a welcome anomaly from what we expect of Waxahachie, a city known for historic Victorian houses. The geometrically intriguing architecture of this custom home by Blue Line Design is dramatic and exciting, creating an instant curiosity about what lies behind the bold stone-enhanced facade.
The black steel entry staircase beautifully frames the floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the covered patio and pool and teases the view to the airy open-plan family room with a jaw-dropping fireplace, surrounded by windows on three sides. The ceiling-height windows over the fireplace and in the dining room offer beautiful views of the moon at night. There is direct access to the cozy covered patio with an impressive tiled fireplace through enormous floor-to-ceiling sliders.

The chef’s kitchen is anchored by a stunning marble waterfall island, and the same marble continues on the counters. An impressive use of counter-to-ceiling tile frames the commercial-grade gas range.
The kitchen features a Sub-zero refrigerator, a Miele oven, a Miele Steam oven, a commercial-grade gas range, a wine refrigerator, and icemaker.
“The kitchen is one of the many things I’m really going to miss,” Caroline said. “I love my Miele oven!”

Working from home was a breeze in 3,444 square feet. With the kids grown and flown, four bedrooms and a study meant room for two offices, one with a fabulous view of Lake Waxahachie, which is easily accessible. You cannot be better placed for a summer of boating and fishing with a boat dock and lake access across the road. The sleek Waxachachie contemporary was also move-in ready.
“We painted, and that’s it,” Caroline said.

Just down the road behind the home is the 33 X 40 barn with custom horse stalls that Mark built, and a workshop. It’s large enough to have plenty of room once your RV is parked and plugged in. There is even a separate septic system.

There was ample space for everyone to visit and enjoy the expansive backyard and pool, making it a perfect family retreat.
“It’s been a wonderful family home,” Caroline said.” We are going to miss it!”
Jansing has this Waxahachie Contemporary at 211 Hunter Pass listed for $1.35 million.
