Property Tax Deadline One Week From Today

Share News:

Did you know that appraisal districts weren’t established until 1981, following the passage of The Property Tax Code (SB 621) during the 1979 Legislative Session. Thanks 1979.

Here’s your friendly reminder that the deadline to file a protest of your property valuation is quickly approaching. We dug into each county’s websites to find detailed info to help you protest.

For Dallas County Homeowners

May 15 — Homeowner deadline to file a written protest of valuation.

Site: Dallas County Appraisal District

How do I file a protest?

DCAD prefers homeowners protest online by using the uFile Online Protest program, but they may visit the office to file in person or mail their protest. The office is located at 2949 N. Stemmons Freeway, and open 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Faxes or emails are not accepted for protests.

To access the uFile System to protest your account, click Search Appraisals to locate your account and then select the uFile Online Protest link from the Account detail screen as shown above.

DCAD Customer Service (214-631-0910) and Residential (214-905-9402) Division phone lines will be open for residential property owners to call in. Through May 14, 2024 the Appraisal District Residential phone
line will be open late on Tuesday nights until 6 p.m. and open on Saturdays through May 11 from 8 a.m. to noon to answer protest process questions.
