Dallas City Manager T.C. Broadnax

In an email message to friends and colleagues Wednesday afternoon, Dallas City Manager T.C. Broadnax announced his resignation, effective June 3.

We’re told by sources close to City Hall that an effort to remove the city manager was led by three council members and was supported by a majority.

Deputy City Manager Kimberly Bizor Tolbert is expected to serve in the interim while a nationwide search is conducted.

The email, in its entirety, is published below:

A few moments ago I announced my resignation as City Manager, effective June 3, 2024.

It has been my distinct honor and privilege to have served as your City Manager for the last seven years. I am proud of what we have accomplished together and grateful for the support I received during my tenure. Each of you have given me the opportunity to become a better leader. You’ve allowed me to hone my skills while breaking down barriers to usher in equitable, inclusive, and transformative change for the residents of Dallas. I am proud of your resilience and your ongoing commitment to our values of service.

It is my hope that my departure provides the City Council an opportunity to reset, refocus, and transition to a new CIty Manager that continues to move the City forward and will allow for a more effective working relationship with the Mayor and City Council moving forward.

During this transition, I am committed to working with the City Council to ensure the continuity of programs, projects, and services to the community are not negatively impacted.

I sincerely thank each of you for the privilege to serve as your City Manager and wish you all the best in the years to come.

T.C. Broadnax, Dallas City Manager
