Response to last week’s story about Realtor photos had its highs and lows. The good news: CandysDirt.com readers took advantage of the opportunity to book a mini photo shoot with photographer Lori Sapio. So much so that Skibell Fine Jewelry owner Lyn Skibell has already scheduled an encore opportunity, Tuesday, Oct. 17.

“Reaction was great. We’re totally booked for next week,” she said. “Still, we want to accommodate as many people as possible. Anyone interested should register online or contact the store.”

Once again, the Preston Center shop will be offering a one-on-one photo shoot with Sapio and her team for $35.

The fee also includes a complimentary jewelry appraisal valued at $150.

As for the aforementioned lows, we know at least one reader had an opposing view:  “I think headshots on business cards and promo materials is an outdated relic from a long-gone era,” he wrote in our comment section. “What other professional industry does that? Maybe ambulance-chasing lawyers?”

Just to clarify, we’re not talking cheesy, old-fashioned, overly-staged photographs.

Just the opposite. Sapio is just one of many talented photographers with the ability create compelling images that capture a subject’s personality.

“Personal branding is more important than ever. In the age of social media, you don’t get a lot of time to prove yourself,” said Sapio.

Those new to Skibell Fine Jewelry are in for a treat. From the instant you walk in, there’s a warm, welcoming vibe.

“We’re not like stores in the mall,” said Skibell. “The difference here is that we’re accessible.”

Credit interior designer Lisa Hendrikson for making the narrow space feel open and airy. “I like to create big looks in small spaces. We went high with the display cabinetry and chose wallpaper with a touch of metallic to help reflect light,” she said.

Kinon-covered wall panels add color and interest. (Fun fact: This handmade reflective finish is used to outfit Chanel retail boutiques worldwide.)

“Kinon was also the perfect choice for Lyn’s office. We wanted it to be professional, but with a strong feminine side,” Hendrikson said.

“I always choose timeless over trends; quality over furnishings that are going wear out or look dated after five years.”

Skibell hand-selected the store’s standout chandelier. “It’s like a big piece of jewelry. So beautiful and unique. I had to have it.”

Hendrikson popped the ceiling up a few inches to accommodate the oval shape. LED lighting throughout – including inside the display cases – enhances the brilliance and sparkle of the jewelry.

The expertly curated assortment of jewels includes designer, estate, bridal, and high-end timepieces. Skibell Fine Jewelry also specializes in custom designs.

“Maybe you’ve just inherited a piece, or you just cleaned out your jewelry box. We can transform it into something you’ll wear every day,” said Skibell.

Luxury pens are new to the product mix. All can be personalized with a logo, name or initials. “For Realtors, they’re the perfect closing gift. The quintessential way to seal the deal.”

Reserve now for Oct. 17. Appointments are available from 3 to 5 p.m. Skibell Fine Jewelry is located in Berkshire Court, 8411 Preston Rd., Suite 110; (214) 691-5123.
