If you’ve been looking for a local contracting firm that understood your needs, you’re in luck! HG&Co. is that company. It was founded by Herman Guerra, who grew up in East Dallas, went to Bryan Adams High School, and then on to The University of Texas. It doesn’t get more local than that!

He’s always had an entrepreneurial spirit and a heart for construction. So, after selling his equity in ONE90 Smoked Meats to his business partner, he went to work for a contractor friend.

“I grew up in the business,” Guerra said. “When I was a kid, I’d help my dad cut tile and drywall. I learned everything from him.”

It didn’t take long for Guerra to decide that opening his own construction business was the next step. “I came up with a name and logo, and in six months, I was so busy I had to start contracting out some of the work.” It took about three years before HG& Co. launched a full design and build operation. A global pandemic fueled the need for contracting services in general, but the real keys to Guerra’s success are vision and connections.

“I knew if I maintained a neighborhood feel and the quality of the work, I could be successful,” Guerra said. “Our company is built on honesty, reliability, and transparency.”

With the help and support of his wife, the company now does everything from large renovations to additions. The husband-and-wife duo has more than tripled the business size in the past couple of years. The reason for the company’s rapid growth is simple.

“We focus on quality and customer experience throughout the process from design to construction,” Guerra said. “All of my subs are from my connections growing up in Dallas, and we know how to take care of our customers. We use HEPA vacuums, build plastic walls to contain dust, and clean thoroughly before and after our projects.”

The other significant factor setting HG&Co. apart is their 1,500-square-foot design center.

“It’s a full retail space,” Guerra said. “We know people want direction, so we have three designers on staff and carry what is popular. Of course, we can order anything, but we display what is on trend. The design center is for everyone, designers, architects, and other contractors.”

To showcase the HG&Co. Design Center at 9019 Garland Road, Guerra is hosting an open house event on August 11 from 11-5. Stop by and meet your neighbors and find some inspiration for that remodel!
