This Rustic Escape is a Slice of Heaven With a ‘Spool’ on Possum Kingdom Lake

Don’t worry, this heat isn’t going anywhere and neither is Tarrant County Tuesday. As long as there is hot weather we will continue to bring you enjoyable and refreshing (and hopefully cooling) properties that offer a respite from the elements.

We continue our summer lake living series with a rustic three-story home in The Harbor neighborhood on Possum Kingdom Lake.

PK is a popular spot for many Fort Worthians due to its relatively close proximity.

Possum Kingdom Paradise

For those not familiar with Possum Kingdom Lake (or “PK” as everyone calls it), it’s about an hour and a half due west of Fort Worth mostly in Palo Pinto County. The lake is roughly 17,000 acres and has over 300 miles of shoreline. It holds approximately 750,000 acre-feet of water. Raise your hand if you knew what an acre-foot was … I’m guessing that’s not the metric system?

All that is to say, PK is a heavenly place to visit or live and it’s not very far from Fort Worth at all. Today’s featured property is a rustic three-story home with four bedrooms, four-and-two-half bathrooms, and 5,171 square feet. Complete with a “spool” — that’s a portmanteau of what you call an oversized hot tub that can serve as a “small pool” — a saloon, and a bunk room, this rustic getaway is the ultimate place to be when at PK.

Actually yes, the first floor of this home has what the current owner has deemed the saloon. It’s a rustic second living area with a bar and lounging area that is just what you need after a long day at the lake.

Adjacent to the saloon is a bunk room where you can stash the kids and let them have fun. The second floor is where the primary suite is located. The views from the suite are spectacular.

Views of PK are not just in the bedroom but from the enormous primary bathroom as well. Enjoy washing all that lake water off as you enjoy the scenery.

The third floor is the money shot. An open kitchen, living, and eating area with a large balcony is where you want to congregate and spend time with friends and family.

I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking, “Well, my knees might not make it up to the third floor to enjoy everything and everyone.” Have no fear, because this Possum Kingdom Lake home comes complete with an elevator to ensure everyone can make it to the top.
