Yellowstone Real Estate News: A Topanga Canyon Estate, West Texas Ranch, and Aspen Compound

It’s been a busy news week for the TV mega-hit Yellowstone. No, the series won’t be coming back for season six. Yes, star Kevin Costner is in the middle of a messy divorce. And just maybe, actor Matthew McConaughey will star in a spinoff.

There’s also three real estate-related stories, all with Texas ties. For starters, Yellowstone actress and native Dallasite Hassie Harrison is the new owner of a sprawling $4.6 million equestrian spread in Topanga Canyon in California. Tucked into the rugged hills between Malibu and the San Fernando Valley, the estate features a three-stall barn, riding arena, and tack and feed room.

As Laramie, Harrison plays a barrel racer shaking up the Dutton Ranch bunkhouse.

“I grew up in Texas around this cowboy culture, so I knew I had an easy way into this character,” she told Meaww.com.

As the granddaughter of the late Rosewood hotelier Caroline Rose Hunt, Harrison honed her craft at the Dallas Children’s Theatre. Freelance creative Bret McKinney remembers, “Hassie always wanted to be a starlet and do the acting thing. When we photographed her for the cover of Modern Luxury Fresh Faces of Fashion, she nailed it on the first frame.”

Now residing in LA, Harrison purchased the multimillion-dollar home with fellow Yellowstone actor Ryan Bingham. (The pair officially confirmed their couple status this past April.) The 4,370-square foot main house features a double-height entry foyer, sweeping wrought-iron staircase, three fireplaces, and Brazilian cherry and travertine floors.

Lush grounds provide the “wow” factor. Fruit and olive trees abound; a loggia flanks the pool and spa.

According to McKinney, there’s a chance Harrison’s next acting gig may be closer to home. As fans mourn the end of the Yellowstone television saga, three spinoffs are in the works – one slated to be filmed at the historic West Texas 6666 Ranch.

“I ran into Hassie at last fall’s Yellowstone premiere which was held at the ranch,” he said. “Who knows where Laramie might turn up?”

Turns out, the super-sized 266,255-plus acre 6666 was purchased for a whopping $192.2 million by none other than Yellowstone co-creator Taylor Sheridan. Originally part of the Burk Burnett holdings, the ranch was passed down to his great-granddaughter, Fort Worth benefactor Anne Burnett Marion.

Sheridan, who grew up in Fort Worth, is a Texas rancher himself.

“The legacy of the 6666 Ranch and Miss Marion’s vision for the ranch are vital not only to the ranch itself, but the rich heritage of ranching in Texas,” he said.

Since being featured on Yellowstone, 6666 has become a destination, attracting visitors from all over the world. The compound offers panoramic views of the Brazos River Valley. Typical ranch features include three barns, four dozen stalls, and a covered walker for up to six horses.

As for our final Yellowstone-related real estate scoop: Costner’s IRL 106-acre Colorado homestead just hit the rental market.

But it’ll cost you. Asking price is a jaw-dropping $36,000 per night.

Dubbed Dunbar Ranch, the Aspen compound sits at the base of Independence Pass, hidden amongst the Elk Mountain Range. Highlights include private lakes and an on-site baseball field. (Field of Dreams fantasy, anyone?)

The 5,800-square-foot main estate sports rustic decor – think exposed wood, warm oak ceilings, and stone accents. In the living room, there’s a double-sided fireplace; in the primary suite, a secret trap door leads down to a hidden hot tub with its own waterfall and magical mountain views.

Along with Aspen’s requisite ski slopes, there’s ice fishing, sledding, and cross-country skiing in the winter; kayaking, paddle boarding, and hiking in the summer. Amy Mottier of Coldwell Banker Mason Morse-Aspen holds the listing.
