Relaxed Luxury Defines This Lakewood Home

If you happen upon the May issue of Australian Vogue Living, you’ll see the work of Dallas interior designer Chad Dorsey. The Dallasite’s work on a Lake Travis home caught the eye of the Aussie publication, and by the looks of his work on this Lakewood home listed by Nora Ling Lane of Allie Beth Allman and Associates, it’s obvious why. This stunner at 7137 Westlake Ave. is this week’s Highlight Home of the Week, sponsored by Dallas mortgage expert Lisa Peters of Cardinal Financial.

But first, that Austin home, which Vogue’s Living section describes as a “cleverly curated home that brings the outdoors in.” They describe Dorsey’s signature style as relaxed luxury, which “incorporates pieces that evoke a luxurious lifestyle in an effortless way,” Dorsey explained. I like that and isn’t that the goal for all these gorgeous transitional homes we feature as Highlight Homes from Lisa Peters? They’re light and bright with, yep they’re right, relaxed luxury. (Though I couldn’t follow the math on their square footage — “a bit over 740 metres squared.”)

Our home here, designed by Dorsey and built by More + Design, has 4,500 square feet with four bedrooms and four baths, set on a quarter-acre lot in Lakewood.

With a grand entry that has high ceilings and a bold staircase greeting you at the door, this home makes a statement. On one side of the entry, there’s a formal living room with a wood-burning fireplace and a gorgeous wall of wood that adds an unexpected earthiness to the room.

On the other side, a private office with a full bath that could become a fifth bedroom if you need the space. Either way, you’ll enjoy those walls of floor-to-ceiling built-ins.

Nora, the listing agent, says the open kitchen den is a cook’s dream with all the bells and whistles and shiny top-notch stainless steel appliances you’d expect.

The den features a wood-burning fireplace, flanked by French doors that open onto the covered patio and the pool.

The dazzling dining room has double full-size wine fridges with beverage drawers, plus French doors that open to a private, turfed courtyard with sitting area and a firepit. Indoor/outdoor dining (when it’s not like this week’s oppressive heat.)

There’s also a cozy reading nook tucked under the stairs just because.

Upstairs features an amazing primary suite with three additional bedrooms plus a large game room. Everything up there is light and bright with some steep vaulted ceilings.

The finish out, updates, and fixtures are all top-notch, Nora says. And of course, you’re buying in Lakewood so you’re moments from White Rock Lake, dining, shopping, entertainment, and great schools.

Nora Ling Lane of Allie Beth Allman and Associates has listed 7137 Westlake Ave. in Dallas for $2.6 million.
