The Best Open Houses For Holiday Decorating Are on Display, But Go Easy on The Mistletoe

The trees are up, the lights are illuminated, and maybe there’s even a present or two wrapped.

Holiday house hunters are on the prowl this weekend and there are tons of great listings on the market.

This weekend, we’re unwrapping three amazing Dallas open houses that lend themselves to holiday entertaining. These homes feature overstated beauty, plenty of space for guests, and gathering areas just begging for splashes of red and green decor.

By the way, while you’re decorating this holiday season, go easy on the mistletoe. We hate to be a Debbie Downer this holiday season, but Texas A&M Forest Service experts say mistletoe is actually a parasite and can damage trees. You know you can steal a kiss without a parasitic sprig hanging from your doorway, right?

Have a Holly, Jolly Open House in University Park

Our first stop on this holiday tour of open houses is 4037 McFarlin Blvd., University Park

The $6 million stunner features six bedrooms, six full bathrooms, four half-baths, and three living areas.

There are plenty of spots for holiday accents in the 7,957-square-foot space. Nestled on a corner lot with a pool, the French-style home features a two-story entrance.

Guests will flock to the formal dining room with stunning Venetian plaster walls. Gather after the meal in the living room and enjoy the beautifully-landscaped backyard through the floor-to-ceiling windows while enjoying the warmth of a fireplace.

Carrara marble countertops and a waterfall island highlight the kitchen. The first floor has a large bedroom with an ensuite bath, a game room with a wet bar, a media room, and a paneled study. The downstairs living areas surround the outdoor entertainment hub on three sides.

The primary suite is upstairs away from the party revelers. The new owners can retreat to their private space with a marble bath and expansive custom closet.

Three additional bedrooms feature private ensuite baths. The upstairs has its own living area, and a large bedroom with an ensuite bath and wet bar is above the two-car garage.

Realtor Beth Gilbert Parks with Allie Beth Allman & Associates is hosting an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11.

Live Large at This Daytonia Avenue Open House

Next up on our open house tour is 9018 Daytonia Ave. This $1.18 million masterpiece is a Craftsman-style home constructed by award-winning builder Woldt Homes

The spacious four-bedroom, three-bath abode is on an 8,102-square-foot lot, so there are plenty of spaces for holiday decor.

The Little Forest Hills neighborhood is within walking distance to the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden, so get ready to have some friends out for Holiday at the Arboretum, which continues through Dec. 31. Guests can also enjoy a weekend at nearby White Rock Lake, where the 2022 holiday party starts at 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9.

No mistletoe is needed to get cozy in this space with multiple living areas, high-end finishes, and covered porches in the front and back of the home.

Bonus points: It’s also eco-friendly with top-of-the-line energy-efficient appliances, an HVAC Energy Star rating, and foam insulation to ensure lower utility costs.

Reasonably Priced on Muncie Avenue

We love a good million-dollar listing at CandysDirt.com, but we’re also pretty jazzed about the Dallas housing stock that meets the needs of house hunters in all price ranges.

The home at 1930 Muncie Ave. is listed at a reasonable $500,000 and still has all the bells and whistles.

This gorgeous three-bedroom, two-bathroom home has 12-foot soaring ceilings, quartz kitchen countertops, and cedarwood cross beams.

The open living room and kitchen areas are inviting for big holiday parties and family gatherings.

The spacious backyard has a concrete patio ready for an outdoor caroling event.

Realtor Melix Bonilla with Century 21 Judge Fite Company is hosting an open house from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10.
