This East Kessler Renovation Turned a Great Home Into a High-Tech Haven

We know everything boils down to location. When the owners found this East Kessler property in 2015, they knew it was the perfect spot for a dream home with every modern amenity that surely George Jetson would envy.

They put in calls to architect Paul Dickel and builder Bart Gardner with Gardner Custom Homes and got to work taking the house down to the studs, moving walls, and relocating the kitchen. The owners created a home with high efficiency and high tech and incorporated the lush East Kessler outdoors at every turn.

They essentially rebuilt the home in a way that would make George Jetson proud.

Building a High-Tech Kitchen

When you have a cookbook author in the house, you know the kitchen design has been thoroughly thought out and beautifully organized. What is not immediately evident is the tech-savvy owners added brilliant features most of us would never even know existed.

For instance, the kitchen cabinet drawers along the wall have auto-sense lighting. What’s that, you ask? It activates when the drawers are opened, making it easy to find everything! Who knew? Another feature I’d never heard of is a backsplash made of reverse-painted Star Fire glass panels. You can write on it with a dry-erase pen to showcase the evening’s menu, leave notes for your significant other, or just make a grocery list.

A couple of other high-tech items you’ll love in this home are Lutron Caseta wireless lights that can be controlled from anywhere in the world and an eight-zone stereo system controlled by your smartphone or tablet.

A Bedroom That Takes The Cake

What takes the cake in my book is the principal bedroom has double electric roller shades over the picture window that you can control from the bed. That is sheer nirvana.

A private patio just off the bedroom includes a Sundance hydro-thermal spa. And the bathroom with heated floors is heaven. I have it on good authority that the view from the bathtub is spectacular.

Building a Home Around a Garden

This high-tech home has 2,628 square feet, three bedrooms, and two bathrooms. The separate two-car garage has a fully finished-out, climate-controlled second floor with a deck overlooking the backyard.

The garage has full water and sewer access with an electrical connection for a mini-split heat and air conditioning unit offering the ability to create an entire second dwelling on the grounds.

But let’s get to why the owners built this home — to embrace the outdoors.

“They are passionate about gardening,” Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate listing agent Jason Saucedo said. “They personally did all the landscaping, and it looks like a botanical garden. The backyard has a life of its own.”

Four days ago, Jason Saucedo and Kathy Hewitt of the Hewitt Saucedo Realty Group at Dave Perry-Miller listed 1629 Junior Dr. for $1.5 million. Yes, the offers are flying in, but you may still have an opportunity if you act fast. A property with George Jetson technology is one in a million.
