When You Need Peace and Quiet, This Luxury Lake Home in Northeast Texas Is The Haven You Crave

It’s entirely possible that you’ve never heard of Lake Cypress Springs in Mt. Vernon, Texas. Located about 100 miles northeast of Dallas, this pastoral lake town has less than 2,500 residents living among the tall, towering pines and sparkling waters of the recreational reservoir lake.

Les Owens, founder of one of Dallas’s top custom luxury home builders, LRO Residential, calls this part of Northeast Texas his hometown. “I grew up there and my family has been there for over a hundred years,” he says.

Owens, a third-generation home builder, has fond memories growing up on the lake, boating and waterskiing on every day the weather would allow.

“I grew up on the water,” he says. “When I was a little kid, I’d camp out along the shores of the lake.”

No doubt he camped out on scenic open land that’s now probably someone’s backyard. Maybe even the backyard of his latest lake project, a three-story, 5,048-square-foot main lake waterfront home with five bedrooms and four-and-half baths.

This Cypress Springs beauty composed of cedar and stone has 180-degree views of the lakefront and 258 feet of waterfront shoreline.

“It’s nice because here on Lake Cypress Springs, the trees go right up to the waterline,” Owens says. “That’s especially scenic in fall. The lake is the best in the fall, especially Labor Day through Thanksgiving.”

The fishing’s great here, too. Owens says the property is on a main lake point and is known as one of the best fishing spots in the area.

“I actually met an experienced angler who was fishing on Lake Fork, and he was talking about the best fishing’s he’s had,” Owens says. “He mentioned a spot on Lake Cypress Springs and it turns out he was talking about this main lake point location at 118 King Lance.”

While the fishing is good outside, the living is good inside.

Interestingly, the home was built in 2008, but Owens and LRO Residential renovated a large part of the home, completely redoing the kitchen, and bathrooms, and adding dramatic touches that make this luxury lake home really stand out.

The floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace is a breathtaking focal point, which blends perfectly with the gorgeous White Oak hardwood floors and cedar ceilings throughout the home. Of course, tons of natural light pours in from an abundance of three-story windows, offering picture window views of the lake.

Just off the massive living area, there’s a game room and playroom with a beverage station.

The eat-in kitchen comes equipped with stainless steel Sub-Zero appliances, a built-in refrigerator, and full-size wine storage. An oversized kitchen island features leathered marble countertops and lighted display cabinets add a final glam touch. The large dining area offers up-close views of the water and will have you hankering to head back outside.

Of course, you don’t have to do all your cooking inside. There’s an outdoor cooking area with a sink, built-in grill, beverage center, and granite countertops that offer ample prep space.

The outdoor entertaining spaces are abundant, too. There’s a large patio on the ground level that spans across the entire rear of the home and a full-size deck on the main floor level that also spans across the entire rear of the home. A sundeck on the west side of the home is a great hangout spot as well as the outdoor firepit with seating.

But ultimately, you’re here for the lake. The home has a large three-stall boathouse with two boat bays and a separate personal watercraft bay. There’s an open sun deck with floating steps for swimming access. Nearby there’s a boat ramp that’ll make launching your boat easier.

They say when you buy a lake house, you’re not buying a home. You’re buying a lifestyle. And this lifestyle at Lake Cypress Springs is peaceful living personified.

Les Owens has listed 118 King Lance Court in Scroggins for $3.699 million.
