On National Dog Day, Check Out These Projects Builders Have Created For Furbabies

Our Publisher Candy Evans’ golden doodles, Butter Belle and Baby Belle, make use of their outdoor dog shower almost every day.

For many people buying or building a new home, space for their four-legged furry friends is a must. Fortunately, builders are willing and ready to meet their needs. For National Dog Day, I compiled some of the best examples of dog-friendly home features in North Texas.

Ruff-a-Dub-Dub

The Avant Group is well attuned to the needs of clients with dogs. Between walks through the neighborhood and big backyards, our pets can get a bit muddy. That’s why Avant has accommodated clients with areas custom-built for dog baths.

This dog shower in the utility room features a shelf for shampoo and grooming tools, but the real star is the doggy door that leads directly in or out. No more tracking mud through the house!

This second dog shower, also created by the Avant Group, includes a raised glass swing door to effectively keep water and dirt off the floor. With a feature like this, you can kiss the grooming fees goodbye!

Walk-in closets are wonderful, so how about one for your dog as well? In a home in Lakewood Village, the Avant Group created this space in the utility room especially for pet care. According to Heaven Porteous, it’s “complete with drawers for food bins, hooks for leashes, and tons of cabinet space for other dog-related needs.”

Building for Canines … And For a Cause

Sardone | McLain Construction cares about dogs. That’s why they chose to participate in Home for the Holidays, an annual event held at NorthPark Center to support the SPCA of Texas. The event showcases intricately designed pet homes in addition to bringing pets to the mall for adoption.

Like the rest of the pet homes featured at the event, the house built by Sardone | McLain was raffled off. The proceeds from the event support the SPCA.

Happy National Dog Day! The next time you’re looking for or custom-building a new home, what pet-friendly features will you consider?
