Plano ranked 13th in RentCafé’s list of Best U.C. Cities for Renters in 2022.

Texas is a happening place for renters.

RentCafé ranks 12 Texas cities — three from the Dallas-Fort Worth area — in its list of Best U.S. Cities for Renters in 2022.

Plano ranks 13th, Fort Worth 20th, and Dallas 49th among 115 candidates determined from RentCafé’s three main categories (cost of living and housing, local economy, and quality of life). The rankings reflect apartment rentals and not home rentals.

Round Rock, just north of bustling Austin, ranked first. Austin is 10th.

RentCafé said this about Round Rock: “ … three-quarters of the apartments in Round Rock are classified as high-end, which means they check the most important features for modern renters — from large spaces to quality amenities and finishes.”

Conroe came in third, also cited for a high percentage of high-end apartments. “Additionally, the warm weather and variety of lakes and green spaces create the perfect location for active residents and nature-lovers,” RentCafé said in its summary.

In the large city category, cities with populations of more than 600,000, Fort Worth came in sixth because of its cost of living and housing.

In the small city category, cities with populations under 300,000, Plano ranked eighth and was cited for its local economy.

What is RentCafé: A nationwide apartment search website.

Report review: Per usual, RENTCafé’s studies are extensive. The data is downloadable. RentCafé’s analytics team used a composite index to compare cities across three main categories compiled from 17 relevant metrics. It’s a four-bunny rabbit hole. 🐇 🐇 🐇 🐇
