Tour This Marvelous M Streets Home This Weekend

This week’s Inwood Home of the Week, sponsored by Inwood National Bank, takes us to the M Streets of Greenland Hills, a conservation district of 1920s homes off Greenville Ave. This 1926-built stunner is located on Morningside Ave., a beautiful street of deep, 60-foot lots full of homes with a little bit of English cottage flair.

There’s a lot to love about this three-bedroom, two-bath home with 2,013 square feet, namely the original leaded and stained glass casement windows, buff brick veneer, and an arch top door for an extra dose of chef’s kiss perfection. And we’re still standing outside.

Inside, you’ll find one of the best three-bedroom floorplans in the M Streets, says listing agent Paul Sanders of Compass RE Texas. Indeed, with great flow and graciously proportioned rooms, Sanders points out, this home feels a lot roomier than 2,000 square feet. Just take a look at the front living room. That’s a little over 18- by 15-feet of wow as you walk in and onto original 1926 hardwood floors.

Through the wide arched doorway, there’s the large dining room and even larger eat-in kitchen with tons of storage and counter space making for a great area to entertain. And I’m sorry to go all girly girl on you but grass green glass mosaic tiles — so pretty!!

Sanders points out that the owner’s suite is huge with a grand ensuite bath. The bonus room off of the front bedroom works well as office space or second living area.

The elegantly appointed backyard features mature trees and a large, wrap-around, covered deck. And for cuteness sake, there is a koi pond located off the deck with goldfish that convey. “They’re just waiting for its new family to arrive,” Sanders says.

As for updates, the longtime owners replaced the roof in 2021, expanded the garage in 2010, and enhanced the foundation in 2011 — and you know those things come with a warranty. The home is zoned for the well-rated Mockingbird Elementary, and is walking distance to brunch on lower Greenville.

Paul Sanders with Compass RE Texas has listed 5327 Morningside Ave. for $849,900. He’s hosting an open house this Sunday, March 20 from 2-4 p.m.
