Live High on the Hill of Kessler Park’s Evergreen Hills Road

Never has a street name been so perfectly descriptive. This week’s High Caliber Home of the Week, sponsored by Lisa Peters of Caliber Home Loans takes us to one of Kessler Park’s most iconic streets — Evergreen Hills Drive. A spattering of towering evergreens marks their territory along the hilly and winding streets of this subdivision, where you’ll find this 1954-built midcentury Ranch-style that rests on a sprawling, half-acre irregular lot.

If you’re looking for all the best parts of a midcentury modern home — terrazzo floors, lots of natural wood, windows galore, and those delicious pastel tiles of bathrooms du jour — you’ve got them here.

Terrazzo floors in the spacious entry draw you to one of two large living areas. The front living room features a wall of windows, flanked by built-in bookcases, and flows effortlessly into the well-proportioned dining room with brass lighting.

The den feels positively midcentury with its expansive stone fireplace, original millwork, and sliding glass doors that bring expansive views of the large heavily-wooded backyard into the home in classic MCM styling.

A breakfast room sits between the den and kitchen and features a wall of cabinets under the large counter. Be still my heart: storage!

The primary bedroom is a spacious 21’x15.3’ and has a dressing area with a vanity next to the bath. An adjacent office leads to the two-car garage for easy comings and goings.

In total, the home has three bedrooms, two full baths, and one-half bath and measures 3,193-square-feet per tax rolls. Plus, the sellers have knocked out several of the big ticket items such as new electrical panels, a new roof, and a new five-ton condenser unit.

“While this home is a time capsule in all the right ways, its location, setting, floor plan, and impeccable condition create an ideal opportunity for the future owner to create their own masterpiece,” Compass’ Phillip Murrell writes in the listing, which just went pending yesterday.

Phillip Murrell of Compass has listed 1027 Evergreen Hills Road for $999,500.

The house is not in Kessler Woods. Otherwise, the article beautifully describes a house that I have visited many times when a prior owner lived there.
