Greenway Terrace Contemporary

When it’s August in Texas and you’ve flown in to your soon-to-be new town to look for the perfect lease, there is one absolute necessity. A swimming pool. This Greenway Terrace contemporary has one of the most gorgeous pools I’ve seen in a long time, and the house is fully furnished and move-in ready. What more can you ask for?

Anne Hsu, the owner of Daton Homes, built this Greenway Terrace contemporary home in 2019. We have only a handful of female builders in Dallas, and it’s always refreshing to see their work and to hear how they entered into a male-dominated business.

Hsu started building in 2012 during a recession. She bought a few lots and partnered with a gentleman, who turned out not to be much of a gentleman. He started two of the homes, then took off with all of her hard-earned cash.

“ I had to deal with two half-finished homes and an empty lot,” Hsu said. “I was essentially forced into becoming a builder. Once I finished these three, I realized I didn’t need a male partner. I found great subcontractors and built a stable team. I just figured it out.”

Of course, Hsu is a USC graduate and was an engineer for Texas Instruments when she first came to Dallas, so she’s a smart cookie. She’s also a full-time mom to kiddos ranging in age from four to 13. So, building is actually her side gig! But anyone with four kids can tell you multi-tasking comes naturally. You’d be surprised how much work you can get done in a carpool line.

“My primary motivation is to take care of the kids while being my own boss,” Hsu said. “My family is the most important thing in my life, but I want to create value outside of my family life as well.

“Whenever I drive by the homes I build, I feel a sense of achievement. I love doing spec homes because I have good ideas, and I enjoy presenting a completed product. I also don’t repeat a design. It’s always a new look.”

Hsu mainly builds in the Park Cities, Lower Greenville, and the Love Field neighborhoods. Her 3,332-square-foot Greenway Terrace contemporary has an open floor plan with four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and of course, this minutes from Love Field location could not be better.

The home has every amenity you can imagine including a Tesla charging station, a Culligan water softening system, and a commercial-grade air filtration system.
