Property Owned by B-52s Singer Has Plenty of Room to ‘Roam’

Share News:

B-52s singer Kate Pierson’s 6.5-acre resort compound in the Catskills might be a collection of love shacks — and there might even be a tin roof or two.

There is, however, plenty of room to roam.

Pierson’s Woodstock-area motel boasts 10 cabins, all furnished with the retro-feel that is synonymous with the B-52s. As we often point out, sometimes the WTF in Wednesday WTF stands for, “Why the Fudge Not?” and this is one of those times.

Kate’s Lazy Meadow has been a going concern for several years, and Pierson bought the property in 2004, she told Bloomberg, and has been running it ever since with her artist wife Monica Coleman.

“It was more or less temporary lodging at the time I bought it,” she said. “Before it had been run as a roadside hotel, and people would bring their trailers and fish because we’ve got incredible trout fishing.”

Pierson said that they only rent the cabins on the weekends, and don’t advertise at all — which means that if someone wanted to say, do a more robust business than she and Coleman did, they could probably rake in more than the “modest profit” the duo has, who said they’ve been running it more with fun in mind.

And if they had their druthers, it would stay that way.

“We thought, this is a time to pass the torch to someone who can really use its full potential,” Pierson said. “Hopefully, someone buys it as a family compound.”
