If you love Tudor homes as much as I do but crave a modern home, I’m happy to say those two desires are combined in this new East Dallas duplex with modern Tudor styling.

These are so cool they blew off the market instantly. One is pending, and the other contingent. But hey, you can always call the builder and designer for a custom project!

Designer Bonnie Achariyakosol of BR Interior Designs recently wrapped up this project with Jim Womble of Savannah Custom Builders. They have worked together for about 13 years and always come up with something interesting.

“Jim wanted to design a duplex with a courtyard in the front, and I presented him the concept of an East Dallas modern Tudor project to fit into the neighborhood,” Bonnie said. “I have a client around the corner in an original Tudor and loved the idea of infusing that style with a new construction project. It’s totally different than most or maybe ANY duplexes on the market.”

(We’ve linked Bonnies’ Instagram highlights so you can see the process.)

Bonnie may love Tudors as much as I do, but while I’m happy in the 1920s, she is always keen to create what’s coming next and push the envelope in new directions.

“I love Tudors. There is nothing like them,” Bonnie said. “My brain is always jumping to what is next, what’s new and fresh.”

Bonnie has worked with Jim so long that they have their own language. They’d seen what was being developed and felt it was simply not exciting. There was nothing that felt traditional but a bit different.

“There were a lot of cool Tudors and modern farmhouses, so I thought what about a modern Tudor,” Bonnie said. “Jim was in. He’s such a cool builder, and he wants to do exciting and creative homes. I’m always impressed with him because he’s looking for perfection, and he derives pleasure from breaking out of the box.”

Each East Dallas modern Tudor duplex is about 3,000 square feet, has three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a powder bath, and office space. It’s incredibly energy efficient and has full home automation.

Bonnie did the concept development, and finish-out but both Jim and Bonnie wanted some drama. “Jim had a relationship with this artist. He wanted a modern punch when you walk in, so we decided to go graphic!”

And that drama is what sells today. You have to push the envelope. We are all bored with the white box, so it’s really up to our builders and designers to up the ante and takes things to the next level. Jim and Bonnie have shown us with this East Dallas modern Tudor that thinking out of the box works!

Who is the artist that created that AMAZING black/white stair wall in the last photo? Would love to get their contact info for a project on our home.

How beautiful! This designer has an eye for the small touches that really bring a space together. Truly an amazing job!

Are you kidding me? These SFAs are horrible! They don’t fit in the neighborhood and the design is absolutely dreadful! Colors and textures and prints that do not compliment each other in the least. Just awful!

Are you joking, Bill? I guess to each their own but this house is amazing and there is no way this design fills you will dread. That hyperbole is a little much. I know someone must have loved it because it’s off the market. I hope you find happiness too.
