How many times have you heard, or even said to yourself, “New Year, New Me”? The ringing in of a new year often sees us making resolutions. We start trying to become a newer and better version of ourselves when the clock strikes midnight.

So, let’s start 2021 not with the lofty goal of a complete self overhaul but with a few reminders of ways to be kind to ourselves. This is a bit different from simply making New Year resolutions that won’t make it past mid-January. It’s about considering wellness as a gateway to fulfillment. And your spa can help!

Sustainable wellness is the kind that is achieved through long-standing personal change and devotion. It’s about figuring out what constitutes a healthy and happy lifestyle and going for it. Beyond heading to the gym and buying the newest trendy cookbook, we’ve got something that will help you achieve your health and wellness goals for the New Year.

What is the secret to maximizing the efforts you put in for a long term fresh start? Your pool and spa! Below are just a few tips to help you improve your health and wellness throughout the year ahead.

Exercise

You can join a gym, but sadly not even a gym membership is enough to keep you motivated. Or at least, it isn’t for most people. As it turns out, 82 percent of members only go to the gym once a week, while 63 percent of memberships end up going unused. A 2018 survey even showed just how much money has been wasted by Americans who don’t use their gym memberships — a whopping $1.8 billion!

Don’t be another statistic. Make exercise and working out work out for you. Take advantage of that beautiful pool you have in your backyard and go swimming. Even better, once you’re done with your workout, turn on the spa jets and go in for a soak. The warm water will relax you so much, while the jets help with muscle recovery.

Get Some Shut-Eye

Adults need about eight hours of sleep a night to thrive, which doesn’t include a restless night of sleep. Sound sleep is what helps the body feel refreshed. Soak in your spa about 30 minutes before bed to get the best sleep of your life. You’ll wake up feeling refreshed and ready to take on the world.

Do you want to make it even more soothing? Add some aromatherapy to the water, and you’re sure to fall into that deep sleep you’ve been longing for.

Detoxify

Whether you’re aware of this or not, your body is exposed to numerous toxins throughout the day. Many of the everyday items we use have chemicals in them that can be harmful to the body through continual exposure. The heat and warmth of your spa creates a relaxing environment and causes you to sweat quite a bit, which allows your body to get rid of some of these toxins. This detoxification process rejuvenates your body and helps you with your wellness journey.

Meditate

If there’s one thing the past year has taught us, it’s that to survive hard times, we must take care of our mental health. Making time for meditation throughout the day will help you get more in tune with yourself and put you in a better frame of mind to take on the day ahead. When enjoying your spa surrounded by nature, be sure to take a few minutes to hone in on the sights, smells, and sounds of nature and realign your inner self.

Stay Hydrated

Proper hydration is such an integral part of good health. According to the Mayo Clinic, men should be consuming 15.5 cups of fluids a day, while women should consume 11.5 cups. Dehydration can result in fatigue, headaches, and other discomforts. This can hinder your ability to finish daily work or cause discomfort while you’re trying to accomplish the tasks at hand. If you can soak in your spa, be sure you’re consuming enough water while doing so.

Today is the perfect day to commit to a new start wherever you are. There is so much promise and potential in 2021, and at Hobert Pools, we’re ready to help you live life to the fullest.
